Job Description
Housekeeper Essential Duties and Responsibilities includes the following; however, other duties may be assigned:
§ Ensures guests receive professional, efficient, prompt and courteous service.
§ Efficiently and thoroughly completes tasks daily to ensure that assigned guest rooms and other areas are clean, neat and sanitized including, but not limited to: changing linens, towels and bedding; removing trash from rooms and changing can liners; making the bed; cleaning and sanitizing the sink, vanity, shower/tub, toilet, mirrors, bathroom floor and bathroom walls; stocking toiletries and other hotel provided commodities; vacuuming, sweeping and/or mopping; dusting; cleaning and disinfecting surfaces; completing finishing touches and any other checklist items.
§ Opens all drawers and/or doors in checked-out rooms and removes items left by guest. Removes and checks under beds, chairs, and other furniture for debris or other items.
§ Completes other tasks as assigned or as needed including, but not limited to: cleaning windows and blinds, cleaning fans, shampooing carpets, steam cleaning furniture and draperies, wiping down walls and doors.
§ Polishes and rearranges furniture in accordance to room plan as needed.
§ Reports the need for unusual cleaning or maintenance tasks to management.
§ Inspects furniture, fixtures, appliances, lights and other electronics for functionality and reports concerns immediately to management; including, but not limited to leaky faucets or toilets, loose tile, broken window panes, missing nuts or screws, furniture needing repair, etc.
§ Stocks cleaning supplies in cleaning closets and/or carts.
§ Loads and uses washing machines and dryers; irons, folds, sorts and stores items.
§ Correctly uses Ready-To-Use formulations and dilutes concentrates of various cleaning solvents for designated surfaces safely and in compliance with OSHA regulations.
§ Promptly responds to and resolves guest issues and complaints. Ensures guest satisfaction.
§ Cleans up bodily fluids and human waste safely and in compliance with OSHA standards.
§ Responds to requests, needs, and job function with thoroughness and a sense of urgency.
§ Assists with training new housekeepers as instructed by management.
§ Promotes a positive, professional atmosphere.
§ Reports Lost and Found items to management immediately and adheres to policies and procedures.
§ Actively builds relationships with team members and is a team player. Treats all POSTOAK employees, managers, and customers with respect.
§ Dresses professionally in accordance with company dress code and area uniform requirements.
§ Attends all required company training programs and meetings.
§ Follows instructions and responds to management direction.
§ Is punctual and at work as scheduled.
§ Develops and maintains a working knowledge of the Employee Handbook.
§ Actively and immediately reports suspected theft, fraud, or falsifications to management.
§ Ability to perform all job functions and responsibilities.
§ Assists in other tasks, duties, or projects as assigned by management.
Requirements:Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform all essential duties and responsibilities satisfactorily. Education: High school diploma or GED.
License Requirements: The employee must possess a valid driver’s license, valid insurance, and must be approved to drive by Human Resources.
Experience: 6 months in the hospitality or janitorial industry.
Language: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, safety rules, cleaning labels, Safety Data Sheets, the Employee Handbook, other Company policies and procedures, short correspondence, memos, and documents. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to listen and comprehend, and present information to guests, co-workers, and management.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Physical Demands: Ability to regularly stand and/or walk for a prolonged period of time. Ability to lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Ability to reach, stoop, and/or crouch; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk and/or hear. The employee is required to sit; climb, balance and stoop; kneel; crouch; and/or crawl.
