This role combines sophisticated legal strategy, operational leadership, and mission-driven impact within a modern, technology-focused organization.

Accountabilities:

  • Develop scalable frameworks and operational processes for litigation holds, document management, discovery coordination, and regulatory response procedures.
  • Advise executive leadership and Board-level stakeholders on legal risks, regulatory developments, settlement strategies, and potential business implications.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Compliance, Product, Risk, Operations, and leadership teams to proactively identify and mitigate litigation and enforcement risks.
  • Help shape legal and operational strategies that support sustainable product growth while maintaining strong consumer protection standards.
  • Build and evolve scalable litigation and regulatory response functions capable of supporting expanding product offerings and organizational growth.
  • Influence company-wide decision-making by balancing legal, operational, and business considerations in complex and evolving situations.
  • Support the integration of modern legal operations practices, technology platforms, and AI-enabled workflows to improve efficiency and scalability.
Requirements:
  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school and active bar membership in good standing.
  • 12+ years of legal experience with significant focus on consumer financial services litigation and regulatory matters.
  • Deep expertise managing complex litigation matters from inception through resolution, including class actions, arbitrations, discovery, and trial strategy.
  • Strong experience handling regulatory investigations and enforcement matters involving agencies such as the CFPB, FTC, SEC, OCC, FDIC, FRB, state regulators, and attorneys general.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of consumer financial services laws and regulations including TILA, TISA, EFTA, FCRA, GLBA, UDAAP, ROSCA, and related state consumer protection laws.
  • Experience collaborating closely with executive leadership, Product, Operations, Compliance, and Risk teams in highly regulated environments.
  • Strong strategic judgment with the ability to balance legal risk, business objectives, and operational realities effectively.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills, including experience advising executives and Boards of Directors on high-stakes matters.
  • Ability to operate effectively in fast-moving, ambiguous, and highly dynamic business environments.
  • Experience within fintech, digital banking, payments, or financial technology organizations is highly preferred.
  • Combination of law firm and in-house legal leadership experience is considered a strong advantage.
  • Familiarity with legal operations technology, AI-enabled legal workflows, and scalable legal systems is a plus.
  • Collaborative leadership style with strong ownership mentality and focus on building sustainable, scalable legal functions.
Benefits:
  • Competitive compensation package.
  • Flexible remote-first work environment within the United States.
