The Opportunity
We are seeking a Debt Defense Litigation Paralegal to provide direct support to attorneys in managing and advancing debt defense cases. This role involves working closely with clients, opposing counsel, and the Court while preparing, reviewing, and filing case documents.
The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and thrives in a fast-paced environment where deadlines and case progress must be managed with precision. This is an excellent opportunity for a paralegal with litigation experience who is looking to build a long-term career with a growing law firm.
Key Responsibilities
• Analyze and manage incoming legal documents.
• Maintain and organize case files in Clio.
• Draft and review routine pleadings and legal documents.
• File documents through the Florida E-Portal.
• Support attorneys in case management and meeting deadlines by keeping organized schedules and providing timely reminders.
• Conduct weekly WAAG (Week at a Glance) meetings with assigned attorney(s).
• Monitor hearing calendars daily and coordinate scheduling.
• Conduct public records searches.
• Communicate and interface with clients, judges, and opposing counsel.
• Provide regular client updates every 45 days via email.
• Answer incoming calls and assist with client inquiries.
• Prepare attorneys and conference rooms for meetings, mediations, and hearings.
• Manage administrative responsibilities, including emails, copies, processing payments, and file organization.
Qualifications
• 1+ year of litigation experience preferred.
• Familiarity with Clio case management software preferred, but not required.
• Strong communication skills (written and verbal).
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Proven ability to manage time effectively and meet deadlines.
• Ability to perform well in a high-paced and, at times, stressful environment.
• Knowledge of office administration, clerical procedures, and recordkeeping systems.
• High proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) or similar software.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
