Quality Technician I

The position of QA Technician I covers diverse tasks and responsibilities that form part of TXOG Quality Management System. This entry-to-mid level-role is responsible for conducting inspections of processing areas, equipment, processes and documentation to produce wholesome, defect-free, quality finished products. The employee will also oversee the adherence to all applicable regulations during manufacturing activities. The QA Technician I will work closely with the QA Manager, Production, Processing and Cultivation teams to uphold Good Manufacturing Practices and the Texas Compassionate Use Program regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities:
  • Pre-op Inspections
  • First Article Inspections
  • Product sampling and in-line testing
  • GMP enforcement
  • Finished Product inspections
  • Root-cause analysis and Corrective and Preventive Action (CAPA) investigations
  • Documentation review and acceptance
  • Quality incident and deviation reporting
  • Quality investigations and continuous improvement
  • Supports the QA Manager during internal audits
  • Conducts periodical inspections in coordination with the QA Manager
  • Offers support for personnel training, quality standards and GMP Practices
  • Assists in the development, review and revisions of SOP’s
  • Performs calibration verifications and operational checklists
  • Environmental monitoring
  • Pest control and contamination monitoring
What you'll need to succeed:
  • Attention to detail
  • Accuracy and detail in documentation
  • Critical Thinking
  • Proven root-cause analysis skills
  • Adept at using Microsoft Office Suite software (Word, Excel)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work in collaboration with different departments (Cultivation, Processing, Manufacturing and Compliance)
  • Proficiency with Internal Audits and Regulatory inspections
  • Experience with chain-of custody protocols
  • Certification as a Certified Quality Inspector (CQI) or Certified Quality Technician (CQT) by the American Society of Quality (ASQ) is a plus
  • High school diploma or GED required; Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences, Chemistry, Biology or related field preferred
  • 1+ year of experience in a Quality Assurance, quality control or regulated production environment (cannabis, pharmaceutical, food/beverage industries)
  • Bilingual (English and Spanish) is a plus
  • Experience with GMP, Sanitation and HACCP are a plus
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Ability to pass a state-mandated background check and obtain a Texas Compassionate Use Program (CUP) card
Physical Requirements and Work Environment:
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 20-30 lbs. for extended periods
  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment (PPE), including facemask, beard net, lab coat, shoe covers and hairnet
  • Exposure to varying temperatures, humidity levels and plant material/allergens typical of a cannabis cultivation and production environment
  • Ability to work in a controlled-access facility with strict security and compliance protocols.
