Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented 3D Printer Manufacturing Technician to join our production team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for assembling, testing, calibrating, and maintaining 3D printers during the manufacturing process. You will work closely with engineering, production management, and R&D teams to ensure that our 3D printers meet the highest standards of performance and reliability.
Requirements:Key Responsibilities and Duties
- Assemble mechanical, electrical, and electronic components of 3D printers according to provided schematics and instructions.
- Perform calibration, testing, and quality assurance checks on assembled units.
- Troubleshoot and repair issues in hardware during production.
- Maintain accurate records of assembly procedures, test results, and maintenance logs.
- Collaborate with engineers and designers to refine manufacturing processes and suggest improvements.
- Handle basic firmware loading and configuration tasks.
- Inspect incoming parts and materials for quality and conformance.
- Support inventory management and component tracking.
- Ensure workstations comply with safety and cleanliness standards.
Packaging & Quality Control
- Operate filament spooling machines and monitor extrusion consistency.
- Inspect filament for diameter accuracy, color consistency, and surface quality.
- Dry, weigh, and vacuum-seal spools in moisture-resistant packaging with desiccants.
- Label and barcode filament spools with batch and material information.
- Track production batches and complete packaging logs accurately.
- Maintain cleanliness and material segregation in packaging areas to avoid contamination.
Required Skills/Abilities
- Strong understanding of mechanical assembly, wiring, and basic electronics.
- Proficiency with hand tools, soldering equipment, and measurement instruments.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, wiring diagrams, and schematics.
- Comfortable using diagnostic software and basic command-line interfaces.
- Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving skills and manual dexterity.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Familiarity with FDM, SLA, or SLS 3D printing technologies preferred.
- Basic understating of G-code and slicing software (e.g. Cura, PrusaSlicer, etc.) preferred.
- Experience with 3D printer filament extrusion or spooling equipment preferred.
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or GED; technical school or associate degree in electronics, mechatronics, or a related field preferred.
- 1–3 years of hands-on experience with 3D printers, CNC machines, or similar electromechanical systems.
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods of standing and working with hands.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
- Ability to perform precise hand and arm movements.
