Description
Materials Analysis Technician responsible for providing lab analytical services to support production, quality, reliability, sales recreations, and customer requests with some assistance and instruction. This is a 2nd shift position.
Responsibilities
- Understand and operate a wide variety of FA tools to identify root cause of failures Including but not limited to: Optical and SEM microscopy, EDAX elemental analysis, polishing tools, milling tools, Reactive Ion Etcher, Laser Decap, Jet Etcher, X-Ray, and C-SAM (Scanning Acoustic Microscopy).
- Intermediate understanding of FA tools with some outside assistance and some oversight.
- Works cross functionally with Product, Assembly and Test Engineers to support Material Analysis efforts to ensure that customer and supplier projects are executed on time with high quality.
- Works on semi-routine assignments with quality mindset.
- Perform decapsulation of various packages including hermetic and plastic molded packages utilizing various techniques such as chemical, laser and mechanical methods.
- Perform deprocessing of die or wafers using a combination of chemical, mechanical or RIE etching. Must be able to work with caution and safety in mind while working with chemicals and physical de-processing with attention to detail.
- Perform cross sections and parallel polishing of die, wafers or packages. Delineate cross sections using various techniques such as chemical, ION milling, or RIE etching.
- Work closely with the Mfg. organization, Assembly, Product, and Test Engineering to understand the organizations goals and help them meet all requirements and deadlines, by turning around FA requests in a timely manner.
- Work in a hands-on position where the individual will be doing most of their work on an independent basis.
- Performs additional duties, as assigned. Serve as a member on cross-functional project teams. Must be able to able to handle several active projects at one time (multitask) with some assistance or instruction.
Qualifications
- Education: 2-year associates degree in electronics or equivalent industry experience
- Experience: 3-4 years work experience in related field preferred
- Must be flexible relative to department assignment and availability for 2nd shift work
Proven skills:
- Basic knowledge of semiconductor products, device layout, and process technologies
- Basic understanding of device physics and semiconductor fabrication techniques.
- Must be very organized, detail oriented, had have strong problem solving skills, apply sound reasoning, make timely decisions, analyze issues and develop solutions.
- Ability to work independently, self-starter with some supervision. Self-motivated & driven to achieve goals in a fast-paced customer service environment.
- Proficient verbal and written communications skills, with ability to foster open communication with peers and customers. Follow written and verbal instruction with limited supervision. Proactively share timely updates with peers, customers and management. Think and plan ahead to mitigate unexpected outcomes.
- Ability to work within a team and as an individual contributor with some degree of autonomy in a fast-paced, changing environment.
- Foster collaboration with cross functional teams (ASL, MFG, QA, REL, Test) to solve intermediate electrical and materials analysis investigations of semiconductor integrated circuit failures.
