The English and Humanities Department at Alfred State invites applications for an Assistant Professor in English and/or Composition-Rhetoric. Teaching responsibilities include 15 credits per semester in first-year writing and introductory literature courses. We welcome additional specialization in intercultural communication, media writing, or technical writing. Our faculty members engage in service through advisement, assessment, committee service, and curriculum development. Candidates with scholarly interest or experience with inclusive pedagogy and mentoring underrepresented students are encouraged to apply. This on-campus position begins Fall 2027.



Job Requirements:

Candidates must have a Master's degree in English or a related field at the time of appointment. A Ph.D. in English or a related field at the time of appointment is preferred. Clear evidence of successful teaching must be provided in application materials.
