Job Description

Primary Care Advanced Practice Provider Access Specialist

South County Health is seeking a full-time physician assistant or nurse practitioner to serve as a Primary Care Access Specialist to join our dynamic primary care team. This unique clinical role is designed for a provider who enjoys variety, collaboration, and making a meaningful difference in patient access and continuity of care.

The Primary Care Access Specialist provides same-day and short-notice primary care visits while also supporting providers and patients through clinical coverage and EMR inbox management when established PCPs are unavailable.

This is an opportunity to practice across our primary care network, work collaboratively with physicians and advanced practice providers, and help ensure patients receive timely, high-quality

The ideal candidate is a clinically skilled and adaptable primary care provider who is comfortable working independently while collaborating closely with physicians, APPs, practice managers, and clinical leadership.

Successful candidates will demonstrate:

  • Strong clinical assessment and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize multiple clinical needs.
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced primary care environment.
  • Commitment to patient safety and continuity of care.
  • Strong EMR documentation and inbox-management skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across multiple practice locations.
  • Professionalism, flexibility, and a patient-centered approach.

Required Qualifications

  • Board certified as a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner
  • Current licensure in the State of Rhode Island or the ability to be licensed in RI.
  • Current applicable board certification or eligibility.
  • Ability to meet South County Health credentialing and privileging requirements.
  • A minimum of 5 years of clinical experience caring for primary care patients
