Lab Technician, Biomanufacturing - Generation Park

FUNCTION:

The Laboratory Technician, Biomanufacturing supports thesafe and efficient daily operations of the Biomanufacturing Laboratoryfacilities at the South and Generation Park Campuses. Under the direction ofthe Lab Manager, this role performs hands-on equipment setup, routinemaintenance, inventory tasks, and safety support to enable high-qualityhands-on biomanufacturing education and workforce training programs. Theposition requires a proactive mindset, attention to detail, and willingness tolearn new equipment and processes in a dynamic training environment.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

Essential JobFunctions:

  • Prepare, set up, and break down laboratory and trainingspaces, including basic equipment and materials for hands-on training sessionsas directed by the Lab Manager.
  • Perform routine cleaning, maintenance, calibration checks,and basic troubleshooting on laboratory equipment and instrumentation; reportissues to the Lab Manager or vendors as needed.
  • Assist with inventory management by monitoring, restocking,and organizing reagents, consumables, single-use systems, PPE, and laboratorysupplies.
  • Follow and support laboratory safety protocols, includingproper handling and disposal of materials, conducting basic safety checks, andmaintaining a safe work environment.
  • Assist instructors, faculty, and the training team withpreparation of materials and technical support during training sessions.
  • Maintain accurate records of equipment usage, maintenanceactivities, inventory, and safety tasks using logs, checklists, and MS 365tools.

Additional Job Functions:

  • Participate in training to learn new equipment, processes, and procedures as required by the Biomanufacturing program.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to contribute to the operational needs of the Center for Biotechnology.

REQUIRED/MINIMUMQUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge, Skillsand Abilities:

  • Working knowledge of laboratory operations, safety and quality requirements, instrumentation and processes as it relates to biomanufacturing and biotechnology.
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions, SOPs, and safety protocols while working effectively under supervision.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records.
  • Proficiency with MS 365 applications including Word, Excel, SharePoint, Teams, Planner, etc and willingness to learn additional tools.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to demonstrate the College values and work cooperatively in a team-oriented training environment.
  • Proactive mindset with a strong willingnessand ability to quickly learn new equipment and processes.

Education andExperience:

Required Education:

  • Associatedegree in a related field or commensurate education and experience thatdemonstrates the ability to perform the essential duties of the position.

Preferred Education:

  • Associate Degree in science or related technicalfield

Required Experience:

  • 1–2 years of hands-on laboratory or technical experience, preferably in a production, training, research, or similar environment.
  • Basic experience with laboratory equipment handling, maintenance tasks, inventory, and safety practices.
  • Demonstrated technical aptitude and eagerness to learn new tools and procedures.

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience in a biomanufacturing, bioprocessing, or regulated laboratory setting.
  • Prior exposure to supporting educational or workforce training programs.
  • Familiarity with GMP/GDP concepts.

Note: This position has opportunity for limited remote work arrangements with appropriate approvals and in accordance with the policies, procedures, and needs of the College.

Salary Grade: 109

Salary is based on the Board-approved salary schedule for the current fiscal year. See Salary Schedule
