Job Description
SUMMARY OF POSITION
The Learning & Development Manager is responsible for the design, development, facilitation, implementation, administration, and continuous improvement of learning and talent development programs across the organization. Reporting to the Director of Learning & Development, this role executes learning initiatives that support organizational goals, employee development, leadership growth, operational excellence, and onboarding effectiveness.
The Learning & Development Manager serves as a key partner to leaders and subject matter experts, translating business needs into practical learning solutions while managing learning operations, program logistics, learning technologies, and project execution. This role requires strong instructional design expertise, facilitation capability, operational discipline, project management skills, and the ability to work independently while building strong relationships across the organization.
This position is in-person at ALCO Management’s Central Office in Memphis, TN.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Learning Program Design & Delivery
Partner with leaders and subject matter experts to identify learning needs, performance challenges, and development opportunities, and recommend appropriate learning and performance support solutions.
Design, develop, facilitate, and evaluate instructor-led, virtual, blended, and eLearning solutions, including onboarding programs, leadership development experiences, workshops, and webinars.
Apply adult learning principles and instructional design methodologies to create engaging and effective learning experiences.
Develop facilitator guides, participant materials, assessments, job aids, learning activities, and supporting resources.
Prepare and support subject matter experts and internal facilitators in the delivery of ALCO-developed learning content, where applicable.
Incorporate feedback, evaluation data, and stakeholder input to continuously improve learning effectiveness.
Learning Operations & LMS Administration
Administer, maintain, and optimize the organization's Learning Management System (LMS) and related learning technologies.
Create, schedule, maintain, and publish learning offerings, enrollments, assignments, attendance records, and completion data.
Manage participant communications, learning calendars, training documentation, and learning resources.
Generate reports, dashboards, and analytics to support learning administration, program evaluation, and decision-making.
Project Management & Program Coordination
Manage learning and talent development initiatives from planning through implementation, including development of project plans, timelines, communication plans, and implementation strategies.
Coordinate onboarding programs, leadership development initiatives, learning events, and other Talent Team programs, including logistics and scheduling, facilities, technology, materials, and vendor management.
Proactively identify risks, communicate concerns, and recommend solutions to ensure projects remain on track.
Maintain processes, templates, documentation, and standard operating procedures that support operational consistency and scalability.
Organizational Partnership & Continuous Improvement
Build effective relationships with leaders, employees, and subject matter experts across the organization.
Analyze learner feedback, assessment data, participation metrics, and stakeholder input to identify opportunities for improvement and recommend enhancements to learning experiences, operational processes, and program effectiveness.
Stay current on industry trends, instructional design practices, facilitation techniques, learning technologies, and LMS enhancements, recommending and implementing improvements that enhance learner experience and operational effectiveness.

KNOWLEDGE & SKILL REQUIREMENTS
Education
Bachelor's degree in Learning & Development, Education, Instructional Design, Organizational Development, Human Resources, Business, Communications, or a related field required.
Master's degree in a related field preferred.
Experience
5-7 years of progressive experience in Learning & Development, instructional design, training facilitation, organizational development, talent development, or a related field.
Demonstrated experience designing and facilitating instructor-led, virtual, blended, and digital learning programs.
Experience administering Learning Management Systems and supporting learning operations.
Demonstrated success managing multiple projects, stakeholders, and competing priorities simultaneously.
Experience with onboarding, leadership development, or talent development initiatives preferred.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Strong knowledge of adult learning principles and instructional design methodologies.
Experience with eLearning authoring tools such as Articulate Storyline, Rise, Adobe Captivate, or similar platforms preferred.
Strong facilitation, presentation, communication, analytical, and project management skills.
Ability to assess performance needs and determine when learning is, and is not, the appropriate solution.
Proficiency with LMS platforms, Microsoft Office, and related business technologies.
Ability to work independently while building strong cross-functional partnerships.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
Occasional travel, including overnight travel, may be required.
Valid driver's license required.
Compensation & Benefits
The salary range for this position is $85,000 – $92,000 annually. Final compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, certifications, geographic considerations where applicable, and internal equity.
In addition to base pay, eligible team members may participate in performance-based incentives where applicable.
