Position Summary
The Lead Copywriter develops compelling, conversion-focused copy across a variety of marketing channels, including paid media, social media, email, web, direct mail, video, and long-form content. This role combines strong storytelling, strategic thinking, and a performance marketing mindset to drive engagement, lead generation, and business results. Partnering closely with Performance Marketing, Brand, Product Marketing, Creative Leadership, and Legal, the Lead Copywriter creates effective, customer-centric communications while serving as a trusted copywriting resource who helps elevate creative quality, messaging consistency, and brand standards across company initiatives.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop persuasive, conversion-focused copy, concepts, and messaging frameworks across paid social, email, direct mail, print, web, video, and other marketing channels. Balance brand-building and direct-response objectives to drive engagement, lead generation, and business performance.
- Serve as a senior copywriting resource for the creative team by providing guidance, feedback, and best practices that elevate writing quality, strengthen messaging, and promote consistency across campaigns and brands
- Partner with Performance Marketing, Brand, Product Marketing, Creative Leadership, and other cross-functional stakeholders to translate audience insights, testing results, customer needs, and business objectives into effective creative strategies, messaging, and campaigns.
- Review and provide feedback on copy developed by other writers, ensuring content is clear, compelling, accurate, compliant, customer-centric, and aligned with brand standards and legal requirements.
- Contribute to performance-driven creative testing initiatives by developing copy variations, evaluating campaign performance, analyzing results, and applying insights to optimize engagement, conversion rates, and lead generation outcomes.
- Support the evolution of brand voice, messaging frameworks, copy standards, and best practices across the company portfolio while ensuring consistency across channels, audiences, and customer touchpoints.
Experience and Minimum Qualifications:
- Undergraduate (Bachelors) degree.
- 5+ years of professional copywriting experience, including experience providing guidance, feedback, and mentorship to writers and creative partners.
- Portfolio demonstrates strong copywriting, concepting, and storytelling capabilities across multiple channels, including digital, social, email, direct mail, video, and performance marketing campaigns
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Work, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook.
- Must probe legally authorized to work in country of employment without sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H1B status).
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities or Certifications:
- Experience in the home services or lead-gen industries.
- Experience in digital marketing channels (Meta, Google, etc.) with a deep understanding of paid social.
- Experience leveraging AI-assisted content creation and workflow tools.
Travel Requirements:
- Up to 25% US and/or Canadian travel required
- Other travel or work location considerations: Toledo, OH, Hudson, OH, Detroit, MI
Overtime/Additional Hours Requirements:
- Additional and non-standard hours may be required (exempt).
