Shopify Full Stack Developer

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Shopify Full Stack Developer based in United States.

This role offers the opportunity to build advanced ecommerce experiences for ambitious brands through innovative Shopify and Shopify Plus solutions.
The position combines front-end and back-end development, allowing you to work across themes, applications, APIs, and integrations.
You will contribute to creating scalable, high-performing digital commerce platforms that enhance customer experiences and business outcomes.
Working closely with designers, project managers, QA specialists, and client teams, you will transform ideas into impactful technical solutions.
The role requires strong Shopify expertise, modern web development skills, and a passion for ecommerce technology.
You will have the opportunity to solve complex technical challenges while staying at the forefront of the Shopify ecosystem.
This contract position provides flexibility, technical ownership, and the chance to collaborate on diverse commerce projects.

Accountabilities:

The Shopify Full Stack Developer will design, develop, customize, and optimize ecommerce solutions while supporting the delivery of reliable and scalable Shopify experiences. This role requires technical ownership across storefront development, application architecture, integrations, and ongoing platform improvements.

  • Develop and maintain custom Shopify and Shopify Plus themes using Liquid, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and TypeScript.
  • Build and support Shopify applications, custom features, and backend services using Node.js, Remix, Shopify APIs, and Webhooks.
  • Convert design concepts into responsive, accessible, and high-quality ecommerce experiences.
  • Customize storefront functionality, including product pages, collection pages, carts, customer accounts, and checkout-related experiences.
  • Integrate Shopify platforms with third-party systems such as ERP, OMS, inventory, loyalty, payment, subscription, tax, fraud, and fulfillment solutions.
  • Work with Shopify Admin GraphQL API, Storefront API, REST APIs, App Bridge, and Polaris to deliver robust solutions.
  • Optimize ecommerce platforms for performance, SEO, accessibility, user experience, and conversion improvements.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues involving front-end components, backend services, APIs, integrations, and production environments.
  • Test, deploy, and maintain features while ensuring quality, scalability, and compliance with project requirements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business objectives into technical deliverables.
  • Support Shopify POS initiatives, including retail workflows, POS UI extensions, and in-store integrations when needed.
  • Stay current with Shopify ecosystem updates, including Shopify Plus features, Checkout Extensibility, Shopify Functions, Hydrogen, and related technologies.
  • Participate in development best practices including code reviews, documentation, version control, and deployment processes.
Requirements:

The ideal candidate is an experienced full-stack developer with strong Shopify expertise and a deep understanding of ecommerce development. They should be comfortable working independently, collaborating with teams, and delivering high-quality technical solutions in a fast-paced environment.

  • 4+ years of professional software development experience.
  • 3+ years of hands-on Shopify or Shopify Plus development experience.
  • Proven experience building Shopify themes, custom applications, and ecommerce solutions.
  • Strong expertise in Shopify Liquid, theme architecture, sections, blocks, templates, metafields, and metaobjects.
  • Advanced knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, TypeScript, and modern front-end development practices.
  • Experience with React and modern JavaScript frameworks.
  • Experience with Node.js, Remix, or similar backend frameworks.
  • Familiarity with Shopify Admin GraphQL API, Storefront API, REST APIs, Webhooks, App Bridge, and Polaris.
  • Experience integrating Shopify with enterprise applications and third-party platforms.
  • Understanding of ecommerce best practices, including SEO, performance optimization, accessibility, UX, and conversion rate optimization.
  • Experience using Git, version control workflows, pull requests, and code review processes.
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while working in a dynamic environment.
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
  • Strong documentation and collaboration abilities.
  • Preferred experience with Shopify Plus, Checkout Extensibility, Shopify Functions, Hydrogen, Remix, Next.js, Shopify POS, GraphQL, CI/CD tools, cloud platforms, or enterprise ecommerce integrations.
