Job Title: Director of Front Office

Reports to: Director of Rooms

Department: Front Office

Position Summary

The Director of Front Office is responsible for the strategic leadership, operational excellence, and financial performance of the Front Office Division, ensuring exceptional guest experiences consistent with Forbes Five-Star, AAA Five Diamond, and luxury hospitality standards. This role oversees Front Desk, Guest Services, Bell Services, Door Services, Guest Relations, and Telephone Operations, while partnering closely with Housekeeping, Reservations, Engineering, Security, Sales, and Revenue Management to deliver seamless service and maximize guest satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

Guest Experience & Service Excellence

  • Champion Forbes Five-Star, AAA Five Diamond, and Taj luxury service standards throughout all Front Office operations.
  • Ensure personalized recognition and seamless experiences for VIPs, repeat guests, Taj Inner Circle members, Chambers members, long-stay guests, and luxury travel advisor clients.
  • Oversee all arrivals, departures, room assignments, guest preferences, and special requests.
  • Lead guest recovery efforts and ensure timely resolution of guest concerns.
  • Monitor guest satisfaction scores, online reviews, Trust You feedback, and NPS results, implementing action plans to improve performance.
  • Ensure flawless execution of guest benefits associated with American Express Fine Hotels + Resorts (FHR), Virtuoso, Signature Travel Network, and other preferred partner programs.

Operations Management

  • Direct the daily operations of Front Desk, Guest Services, Bell & Door Services, Guest Relations, and Telephone Operations.
  • Maintain effective room inventory management and collaborate with Reservations and Housekeeping to optimize occupancy and guest satisfaction.
  • Lead daily operations meetings, arrivals reviews, and departmental briefings.
  • Ensure compliance with all operating procedures, service standards, and audit requirements.

Compliance & Safety & Risk Management

  • Ensure compliance with Forbes Five-Star, AAA Five Diamond, IHCL brand standards, company policies, and applicable regulations.
  • Conduct routine audits of guest recognition programs, luxury travel partner benefits, room assignment practices, and operational standards.
  • Drive departmental training and corrective action plans to maintain and elevate service standards.
  • Partner with Security and hotel leadership to maintain a safe and secure environment for guests and colleagues.
  • Support emergency preparedness, crisis management, and business continuity initiatives.

Leadership & Team Development

  • Recruit, train, coach, and develop Front Office leaders and colleagues.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, engagement, professionalism, and service excellence.
  • Conduct performance evaluations, career development discussions, and succession planning.
  • Lead by example and promote a positive and inclusive work environment.

Financial & Business Management

  • Manage departmental budgets, labor costs, and productivity targets.
  • Support revenue optimization strategies through effective inventory management and room placement.
  • Monitor departmental expenses and identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency.
  • Collaborate with Revenue Management and Reservations to maximize guest satisfaction while protecting rate integrity.

Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Collaborate closely with Housekeeping, Engineering, Security, Sales, Catering, and Revenue Management to ensure seamless hotel operations.
  • Participate in strategic planning, renovation projects, technology initiatives, and operational enhancements.
  • Support planning and execution for major citywide events, high-profile VIP visits, and peak demand periods.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in hospitality management or related field preferred.
  • Minimum 7-10 years of progressive luxury hotel experience, including senior Front Office leadership positions.
  • Strong knowledge of Opera PMS and hotel operating systems.
  • Experience within Forbes Five-Star and AAA Five Diamond environments preferred.
  • Proven leadership experience in a luxury hotel setting.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, guest-focused environment.
