Job Description
This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Senior Database Administrator (DBA) - Software in Brazil.
This role sits at the core of a high-scale, data-driven environment where database performance and reliability directly impact real-time customer communication systems. You will be responsible for ensuring that large volumes of transactional data flow seamlessly across distributed systems, supporting critical messaging and engagement platforms. The position combines deep database administration with hands-on data engineering, requiring expertise in performance tuning, data pipelines, and cloud-native architectures. You will work in a fast-paced, remote-first setup alongside experienced engineers focused on building resilient, high-performance systems. Your work will have a direct impact on system speed, data accuracy, and platform scalability across production environments. It is an opportunity to act as a technical authority for database health and optimization in a mission-critical ecosystem.
- Design, build, and maintain robust ETL/ELT pipelines that transfer and consolidate data from multiple AWS PostgreSQL production databases into Snowflake for analytics and reporting.
- Continuously audit, analyze, and optimize SQL queries across production systems, identifying bottlenecks and improving performance through query rewrites, indexing strategies, and configuration tuning.
- Oversee the operational health, security, backup, and scalability of PostgreSQL (AWS RDS/Aurora) and Snowflake environments to ensure high availability and reliability.
- Act as a database performance escalation point, diagnosing and resolving critical production issues with minimal downtime.
- Collaborate closely with software engineers to review database schemas and SQL queries, enforcing best practices before production deployment.
- Contribute to data architecture decisions and ensure systems are designed for efficiency, scalability, and long-term maintainability.
- 5+ years of experience in Database Administration, Database Engineering, or a data-focused engineering role with strong database ownership.
- Deep expertise in PostgreSQL, particularly in AWS environments such as RDS or Aurora, including performance tuning and optimization.
- Strong hands-on experience with Snowflake, including data ingestion, query optimization, and cost/performance management.
- Advanced SQL skills, including query profiling, execution plan analysis (EXPLAIN), indexing, and schema optimization techniques.
- Proven experience building and maintaining ETL/ELT pipelines using tools such as dbt, Airflow, AWS Glue, or Python-based solutions.
- Strong experience with AWS Database Migration Service (DMS) for data synchronization and migration workflows.
- Proficiency with Git and collaborative development workflows.
- Bonus: experience with Python scripting, CDC tools (e.g., Debezium), streaming systems (Kafka, Kinesis), observability tools (Datadog, CloudWatch, Grafana), and compliance frameworks (SOC 2, TCPA, CTIA).
- 100% remote work with full flexibility to work from anywhere.
- Highly competitive USD salary aligned with top-tier market standards.
- Paid time off to support rest, recovery, and work-life balance.
- Autonomous, results-oriented work culture focused on outcomes rather than fixed schedules.
- Opportunity to collaborate with leading U.S.-based companies on high-impact technical projects.
- Access to a global network of experienced engineers across multiple countries.
- Work alongside senior-level professionals in a highly skilled, collaborative environment.
