This executive leadership role sits at the forefront of global medical and clinical strategy within a highly specialized therapeutic area, driving innovation across clinical development and medical affairs. The position is responsible for shaping and executing integrated scientific strategies that advance patient outcomes, support product lifecycle success, and align global and regional priorities. You will lead a senior-level organization, build and develop high-performing teams, and act as a key connector between US and global leadership structures. The role requires a strong blend of scientific expertise, strategic vision, and enterprise leadership within a complex, matrixed environment. You will influence cross-functional decision-making across clinical development, medical affairs, and commercial partners while ensuring scientific rigor and patient-centric focus. - Lead the development and execution of US medical and clinical development strategy across the immunology therapeutic area, ensuring alignment with global franchise objectives and patient-centric outcomes.
- Oversee clinical development and medical affairs activities including evidence generation, medical strategy, publication planning, scientific communications, and expert engagement.
- Build, lead, and develop a high-performing clinical and medical affairs organization, ensuring strong leadership pipelines, succession planning, and talent development.
- Partner with global development and franchise leadership teams to shape clinical development plans, lifecycle strategies, and pre-launch and launch readiness activities.
- Drive cross-functional alignment with Commercial, Global Development, and Medical Affairs teams to ensure integrated strategy execution and portfolio prioritization.
- Lead engagement with external scientific communities, key opinion leaders, investigator-initiated research, and medical advisory networks to support evidence generation and insight development.
- Oversee implementation of clinical research strategies, including protocol development, clinical operations collaboration, and patient recruitment strategies.
- Support real-world evidence, health economics, and outcomes research initiatives to demonstrate value, support access, and inform reimbursement strategies.
- Serve as a senior leader within global and US governance forums, influencing enterprise strategy and acting as a change agent across the organization.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory, ethical, and industry standards in clinical development and medical affairs activities.
- Advanced degree required (MD, PharmD, or PhD in Biological Sciences or related field).
- 12+ years of progressive experience in clinical development, medical affairs, or related pharmaceutical/biotechnology leadership roles.
- 5+ years of people leadership experience with demonstrated success managing and developing senior scientific and medical teams.
- Deep expertise in immunology and/or respiratory therapeutic areas, including at least 3 years of relevant industry experience.
- Strong understanding of the US healthcare ecosystem, including access pathways, payer dynamics, and regulatory frameworks governing medical and promotional practices.
- Proven experience in clinical research including protocol development, clinical trial execution, and patient recruitment strategy.
- Strong background in health economics, outcomes research, and real-world evidence generation to support value demonstration and market access.
- Demonstrated enterprise leadership skills with the ability to influence senior stakeholders across global and regional organizations.
- Experience engaging with external scientific communities, including congress presentations and thought leader collaboration, is highly preferred.
- Strong strategic thinking, communication, and organizational leadership capabilities in complex, matrixed environments.
- Competitive annual salary ranging from $318,500 to $591,500 USD, based on experience, skills, and qualifications.
