About the Role:

The HVAC Technician III plays a critical role in ensuring the optimal performance, safety, and efficiency of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems within a manufacturing environment. This position involves advanced troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of complex HVAC equipment to support uninterrupted production operations. The technician will lead efforts to diagnose system malfunctions, implement corrective actions, and perform preventive maintenance to extend equipment lifespan. Collaboration with engineering and maintenance teams is essential to optimize system designs and improve energy efficiency. Ultimately, this role ensures a comfortable and safe working environment while minimizing downtime and operational costs.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • EPA Universal Refrigerant Certification.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in HVAC maintenance and repair, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, controls, and electrical components.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate degree or technical certification in HVAC technology or related field.
  • Experience with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
  • Knowledge of programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and building automation systems (BAS).
  • OSHA 10 or 30-hour safety certification.
  • Experience working with large-scale industrial HVAC equipment.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform advanced diagnostics, repair, and maintenance on a variety of HVAC systems including chillers, boilers, air handlers, and refrigeration units.
  • Lead and execute preventive maintenance schedules to ensure reliability and compliance with safety standards.
  • Collaborate with engineering and maintenance teams to identify system improvements and implement energy-saving initiatives.
  • Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, repairs, and parts inventory to support operational transparency and compliance.
  • Respond promptly to emergency HVAC system failures to minimize production downtime and ensure workplace safety.
  • Train and mentor junior HVAC technicians to develop their technical skills and knowledge.
  • Ensure all work complies with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as company policies and safety standards.

Skills:

The required skills enable the technician to effectively diagnose and repair complex HVAC systems, ensuring minimal disruption to manufacturing operations. Proficiency in reading technical documents and schematics allows for accurate troubleshooting and system optimization. Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude supports the maintenance of diverse HVAC components and controls. Preferred skills such as familiarity with CMMS and BAS enhance the technician's ability to track maintenance activities and integrate HVAC systems with automated controls. Additionally, safety certifications and experience with industrial equipment ensure adherence to safety protocols and efficient handling of large-scale systems.
