Mechanical Engineer I – Power Equipment

Location: Marietta, OH
Job Type: Full-Time, Direct Hire

Position Overview

We are looking for a Mechanical Engineer I to support the design and development of power protection equipment, including switchboards, Power Distribution Units (PDUs), and power panels.

This role works across engineering and manufacturing to develop practical, high-quality designs, support prototype builds, and improve existing products. The position also provides opportunities to independently manage smaller engineering projects.

What You'll Do
  • Create mechanical designs and engineering documentation for new and modified power equipment.
  • Develop designs that meet customer requirements, project objectives, quality expectations, and manufacturing needs.
  • Participate in design reviews and verification activities; evaluate feedback and update designs as needed.
  • Model and release mechanical prototypes and work with fabrication teams during prototype builds.
  • Evaluate prototype results and lead design improvements following fabrication and testing.
  • Independently coordinate smaller engineering projects and organize the work required to meet project goals.
  • Collaborate with Production, Supply Chain, Service, and other business functions to ensure new and updated products are practical throughout their lifecycle.
  • Support product customization, lifecycle management, ECN (Engineering Change Notice) activities, and product optimization.
  • Contribute to technical documentation and other engineering deliverables.
  • Apply design-for-manufacturing principles to improve manufacturability and product quality.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field.
  • 2+ years of relevant professional experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of power protection equipment and the data center market.
  • Familiarity with applying electrical safety standards, including UL and IEC, to power equipment.
  • 2+ years of experience with SolidWorks CAD, including mechanical modeling and thermal and structural evaluation.
  • Experience with PLM software.
  • Knowledge of sheet metal design, detail part drawings, assembly drawings, and design for manufacturing (DFM).
  • Experience with test fixture design.
  • Familiarity with switchboards, Power Distribution Units (PDUs), UL 891, and UL 508 panels.
  • Strong technical writing, written communication, and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while working effectively in a collaborative engineering environment.
  • Solution-focused approach with strong attention to quality and detail.
Work Environment
This is a collaborative engineering role that works closely with manufacturing and other functional teams. The position involves supporting prototype fabrication, product testing, design reviews, and ongoing product improvement.
Work Environment

This position offers the opportunity to work directly on the mechanical design and development of electrical power equipment, from initial concepts and prototypes through product optimization and ongoing engineering support.
