What You'll Do

As a Direct Support Professional, you will provide hands-on support, encouragement, and guidance to individuals with intellectual, developmental, and physical disabilities.

Responsibilities include:

  • Assisting with daily living activities, including cooking, housekeeping, personal care, hygiene, and home management
  • Supporting health and wellness goals, including medication assistance and healthy living routines
  • Assisting with community participation, transportation, appointments, shopping, and recreational activities
  • Teaching and reinforcing life skills, communication skills, budgeting, and self-advocacy
  • Helping individuals build confidence, independence, and meaningful relationships
  • Promoting personal choice, dignity, and inclusion
  • Ensuring the safety and well-being of individuals served
  • Completing required documentation accurately and timely
  • Communicating effectively with team members, supervisors, families, and support professionals
  • Participating in required trainings and staff meetings
  • Following all agency policies and regulatory requirements

QualificationsRequired
  • Must be at least 20 years of age
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Valid driver's license
  • Ability to pass state and federal background checks
  • Ability to pass a drug screening, physical examination, and PPD screening
  • Willingness to complete all required orientation and training
  • Ability to work respectfully and effectively with individuals with disabilities
  • Ability to provide support with personal care, daily living activities, and community participation
Preferred
  • Experience supporting individuals with intellectual, developmental, or physical disabilities
  • Experience in caregiving, direct care, residential services, human services, or a related field
Schedule
  • Per Diem
  • Hours scheduled based on program needs and employee availability
  • Weekend availability may be required
  • Flexibility to work various shifts preferred
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand for extended periods
  • Ability to walk, bend, reach, and assist individuals as needed
  • Ability to lift and carry items as required to support program needs
  • Ability to provide physical assistance with daily living activities
  • Ability to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation
