Job Description
Externship Coordinator
Initial 3-Month Assignment in Career Services
We are seeking an energetic and organized Externship Coordinator who is passionate about helping students successfully transition from the classroom into their careers.
Important: The person hired for this position will initially serve as a Career Services Coordinator for approximately three months before transitioning into the Externship Coordinator role for the Allied Health programs. In the Externship Coordinator role, the individual will also assist with the development and management of Cardiovascular Sonography externship sites. Candidates should be comfortable performing the responsibilities associated with both roles.
What You'll Do
During the initial Career Services assignment:
- Assist students and graduates with job searches, resumes, interviewing, and career preparation.
- Assist in group workshops, seminars and individual touchpoints.
- Develop relationships with local employers and identify employment opportunities for graduates.
- Maintain regular contact with graduating students and graduates seeking employment.
- Track placements and maintain accurate records and required documentation.
- Participate in job fairs, employer outreach, and other career-related activities.
- Assist the team in maintaining Regulatory and Company standards/ percentages.
After transitioning to Externship Coordinator:
- Develop and maintain relationships with healthcare providers and other externship partners.
- Identify qualified externship sites and coordinate student placements.
- Present externship seminars.
- Match students with appropriate sites based on their program and skills.
- Prepare students for externship and communicate expectations.
- Monitor student progress and communicate regularly with students and site supervisors.
- Maintain accurate placement, agreement, evaluation, and compliance documentation.
- Assist with employer outreach and Program Advisory Committee activities.

Requirements:What We're Looking For
- At least 3 years of experience in an Allied Health field, such as Medical Assisting, Laboratory Assisting, or a similar healthcare-related field.
- Postsecondary certificate or diploma required; Associate degree preferred.
- Career Services, externship, recruiting, employer relations, or post-secondary education experience is a plus.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Excellent organization, follow-through, and attention to detail.
- Comfortable working with students, employers, faculty, and school leadership.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and electronic recordkeeping systems.
