Director

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Director based in India.

This is a senior leadership opportunity to serve as the most senior India-based leader for a global, fully remote organization.
You will combine statutory Board Director responsibilities with ownership of the local business and operating environment.
The role sits at the intersection of global strategy, India operations, governance, finance, compliance, and people leadership.
You will act as a trusted bridge between India-based teams and global executives, ensuring priorities are translated effectively into local execution.
A major focus will be establishing strong governance, operational discipline, risk management, and a high-performance culture.
You will also oversee critical legal, tax, audit, regulatory, and employment matters for the India entity.
This is a formative role suited to an experienced country, site, GM, or operations leader who enjoys building scalable foundations in a complex global environment.

Accountabilities
  • Serve as the primary liaison between India operations and global leadership, ensuring strong alignment, coordination, communication, and timely escalation of critical issues.
  • Lead overall India operations and translate global business strategy into effective local execution, providing regular updates and insights to senior international leadership.
  • Act as the senior-most leader for India-based employees, establishing governance rhythms and fostering a high-performance, autonomous, values-driven remote environment.
  • Fulfill statutory Board Director responsibilities, including participating in board meetings, approving minutes and resolutions, and signing required statutory filings and compliance documentation.
  • Own statutory, tax, financial, and regulatory compliance for the Indian legal entity and serve as a key contact for auditors and relevant regulatory authorities.
  • Partner with external advisors and internal finance teams on tax filings, audits, transfer pricing, entity matters, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee India-related people decisions, including hiring, compensation, performance management, employee relations, and terminations, in partnership with functional leaders and HR.
  • Support local people strategy and policy implementation while ensuring compliance with Indian labor regulations, including POSH and applicable state-specific requirements.
  • Manage local vendors and operational partners supporting the India presence.
  • Identify, assess, monitor, and mitigate operational, compliance, people, and business risks affecting India operations.
  • Build strong relationships with India-based managers, delivery leaders, global executives, and external advisors while maintaining effective collaboration across a matrix organization.
Requirements
  • 15–20+ years of professional experience, including at least 5 years in India site leadership, General Management, COO, country-head, or comparable senior leadership positions within multinational organizations.
  • Strong business acumen and demonstrated ability to operate effectively within global, matrixed organizations where functional teams report to international leaders while maintaining local leadership relationships.
  • Significant experience with Indian financial, legal entity, statutory compliance, audit, taxation, and transfer-pricing matters, ideally gained through close collaboration with Big Four firms and/or legal counsel.
  • Experience leading people-related decisions in India, including hiring, compensation, performance management, employee relations, and exits.
  • Willingness and ability to assume statutory Board Director responsibilities, including reviewing and signing board and compliance documentation and accepting the associated personal accountability.
  • Strong stakeholder-management and relationship-building skills, with the ability to establish trust quickly across local teams, delivery leaders, external advisors, and global executives.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills, with the confidence to make decisions, challenge perspectives, and drive outcomes in a complex matrixed environment.
  • Strong understanding of business strategy, operations, organizational priorities, and the ability to connect global objectives with local execution.
  • High integrity, sound judgment, ownership, and a people-focused leadership approach.
  • Experience establishing or scaling a Global Capability Center in India is an advantage.
  • Education is not a formal requirement for the role, although the most recent educational experience may be required as part of a background-check process.
Benefits
  • Competitive India compensation package of 1,66,26,100–2,07,82,600 CTC, depending on experience, skills, demonstrated impact, and internal equity.
  • Equity participation.
  • Performance-based bonus opportunity.
  • 100% remote work environment.
  • Opportunity to operate as the senior-most leader for a growing India presence with significant strategic and operational influence.
  • High level of autonomy and ownership across governance, operations, compliance, and people leadership.
  • Opportunity to work closely with global executives and cross-functional teams in an international, matrixed environment.
  • Inclusive culture focused on diversity, belonging, equity, and bringing different perspectives to work.
  • Career growth through exposure to multiple areas of global business operations and leadership.
  • Reasonable accommodations available for candidates with disabilities throughout the hiring process.
  • A transparent and structured approach to compensation and employee rewards.
