Quality Engineer
Location: Lake in the Hills, IL
Schedule: Monday–Friday, within general business hours (flexible start time available)
Compensation: $80,000-$100,000/annually
Reports to: Quality Manager

Overview
This position serves as the key quality liaison between the Quality, Manufacturing, Engineering, and R&D, integrating quality standards into both new product development and ongoing manufacturing operations. This position is responsible for leading the implementation of robust process controls and driving continuous improvement efforts to deliver top-tier product performance and customer satisfaction. This role will work with quality team members and coordinates cross-functional teams to ensure consistent, repeatable quality across products.
What You’ll Do
Direct and coordinate the activities of the quality department by performing the following duties:
- Act as the primary Quality liaison with Engineering and R&D for new product introductions
- Define and implement effective process controls, including FMEA, Control Plans, and PPAP
- Mentoring and development of quality technicians
- Evaluate current manufacturing processes to ensure compliance with quality standards
- Oversee non-conformance investigations (RMA/NCMR), including CAPA initiatives
- Apply Lean and Six Sigma methodologies (e.g., DOE, SPC) to standardize processes and systematically eliminate sources of variability.
- Utilize root cause analysis tools such as 8D, 5-Why, and fishbone to analyze, understand, and correct issues, driving corrective and preventive actions to closure.
- Conduct lab testing and validate product performance through metrology and analysis
- Analyze data to identify trends, drive improvement, and support decision-making
- Monitor performance metrics and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensure adherence to internal quality systems and external regulations (ISO 9001, FDA)

What You’ll Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Quality Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field
- 5–10 years of experience as a Quality Engineer in a manufacturing environment
- Proficient in new product launch tools: FMEA, Control Plans, PPAP
- Strong data analysis, reporting, and technical writing skills
- Skilled in root cause analysis and continuous improvement methods (8D, A3)
- Familiarity with Cost of Quality metrics and metrology tools
- Excellent communication skills; internal, customer and supplier contacts
- Cost of Quality fundamentals
- Ability to Lead Continuous Improvement Teams

Preferred Qualifications
- Six Sigma certification (Green Belt or higher)
- Internal audit training or credentials
- Experience with plastic coatings (PTFE) or chemistry-based manufacturing preferred
- Familiarity with lab testing, ISO 9001, FDA regulations
- Background in lean manufacturing and supplier quality management
- Experience with document control systems
