Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) Department of Psychiatry welcomes you to consider joining our growing ambulatory services located at the Unity Center for Behavioral Health. We are seeking Board-Certified Psychiatrists to join our team, providing transitional psychiatric care within the Adult Bridge Clinic, located on-site at Unity Center for Behavioral Health.

The Adult Bridge Clinic is part of the larger Adult Ambulatory Psychiatry Program, which also includes the Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP)/Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP), and the Interventional Psychiatry Service. These programs support our mission to deliver high-quality, accessible, and innovative psychiatric care across multiple levels of ambulatory treatment, with a focus on patients with serious, complex, and treatment-resistant mental illness.

An ideal candidate is a dynamic physician who embraces diversity, equity, and inclusion in their work as a clinician and educator. The Bridge Clinic Psychiatrist collaborates closely with interdisciplinary clinical teams, hospital leadership, and academic partners to ensure continuity of care, clinical excellence, and integration across the continuum of services.

Function/Duties of Position

The duties of this position include:

This position consists of clinical and educational responsibilities focused on Transitional Psychiatry. The Bridge Clinic Psychiatrist will care for high-acuity patients transitioning from inpatient psychiatry, Psychiatric Emergency Services (PES), and community crisis settings, conducting urgent evaluations, providing medication management and clinical stabilization, and coordinating care with inpatient teams, other ambulatory services, community mental health agencies, and primary care providers. The psychiatrist will work closely with social work/care management, the clinical psychologist, and the pharmacy team to support treatment planning, medication access, and continuity of care across settings.

Because this position is structured within the larger Adult Ambulatory Psychiatry Program, flexibility to provide clinical services within PHP/IOP and the Interventional Psychiatry Program may be required, depending upon professional interest and program needs.

Within the Interventional Psychiatry Program, the psychiatrist will provide consultation and treatment planning for patients with complex psychiatric conditions, including recommendations for the provision of electroconvulsive therapy (ECT), transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS), and esketamine.

Within the PHP/IOP, the psychiatrist will serve as the primary prescriber, performing psychiatric assessments, developing and adjusting treatment plans, managing medications, and participating in interdisciplinary treatment team meetings to support patients requiring intensive outpatient levels of care.

The specific mix of clinical assignments (Bridge Clinic, PHP/IOP, Interventional Psychiatry) will be determined based on program needs, psychiatrist expertise, and FTE allocation. As this is a developing ambulatory service, clinical responsibilities may evolve over time in response to patient care needs and program growth. Adjustments to scope and assignment may be made in collaboration with the Medical Director.

This is an academic position. The Bridge Clinic psychiatrist will be expected to provide clinical teaching and supervision to psychiatry residents, fellows, psychology interns, and other trainees rotating through the Adult Ambulatory Psychiatry Program. Faculty will participate in quality improvement, program development, and outcomes monitoring across ambulatory services; contribute to curriculum development and educational activities related to outpatient, transitional, and interventional psychiatry; participate in departmental meetings, case conferences, and CME-accredited Grand Rounds; and engage in scholarly activities appropriate to academic rank.

Required Qualifications
  • Must be MD/DO and must be BE/BC through ABPN in Psychiatry
  • Completion of an ACGME-accredited Psychiatry Residency
  • Eligible to obtain unrestricted medical license in the state of Oregon

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in Ambulatory/Outpatient Psychiatry
  • Experience working with high-acuity psychiatric populations and patients with complex psychosocial and medical comorbidities
  • Experience in teaching and supervision of trainees
