The Psychiatrist plays a critical role in delivering psychiatric evaluations, diagnoses, and treatment plans for individuals with behavioral health needs. This position supports the organization’s mission by providing direct psychiatric care and collaborating closely with clinicians, nursing staff, and support services to ensure high-quality, person-centered care across our continuum of services.

Essential Functions: 

  • Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and diagnostic assessments.

  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans, including prescribing and managing psychotropic medications.

  • Provide ongoing medication management, monitoring for efficacy and side effects, and adjusting as clinically indicated.

  • Collaborate with therapists, case managers, nursing staff, and other medical professionals to ensure coordinated care.

  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic health record (EHR) system.

  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, case reviews, and treatment planning.

  • Provide consultation and clinical guidance to staff regarding psychiatric care and behavioral interventions.

  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and agency regulations and policies.

  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, peer reviews, and continuing education efforts.

  • May supervise or mentor psychiatric nurse practitioners or medical residents (if applicable).

  • All other duties assigned.



Qualifications:
Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from an accredited medical school.

  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Psychiatry.

  • Active, unrestricted medical license to practice in the Commonwealth of Kentucky (or eligible to obtain).

  • DEA license with appropriate schedules for prescribing.

Knowledge and Skills: 

  • Strong diagnostic and clinical skills in psychiatric care.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Commitment to trauma-informed, culturally competent, and person-centered care.

  • Ability to manage time effectively and prioritize patient care needs.

  • Familiarity with electronic medical records and documentation best practices.
