Job Description

JOB DUTIES:

  1. Maintain LIS Lab related dictionaries for all lab sites and facilities.
  2. Build new tests and analyzers as needed.
  3. Map and monitor lab reporting to State Health.
  4. Test and validate Meditech updates.
  5. Build and maintain instrument interfaces and functionality between clinic labs and LIS.
  6. Build and maintain interface and functionality with reference lab.
  7. Troubleshoot issues related to interfaces and LIS
  8. Monitor faxing and reports.
  9. Grant access to lab functions for new users.
  10. Train users as needed for Meditech functionality.
  11. Help the Lab module to work better with other modules of Meditech. i.e. Charge Rules to BAR, OM integration of Lab orders, reporting specific lab results to Pharmacy, etc.
  12. Performs and completes all tests according to departmental procedure manuals within established turnaround times.
  13. Handles specimens according to departmental guidelines including unacceptable.

  1. Records and reports testing data according to department guidelines.
  2. Performs and records required quality assurance/control data, recognizes outliers and takes corrective action as necessary.
  3. Performs and reports proficiency tests as assigned.
  4. Observes and abides by mandated safety policies in performing duties.
  5. Performs instrument troubleshooting, repairs and maintenance as required and/or assigned.
  6. Observes reagent and supply inventories, including expiration dates and reports re-order needs to the supervisor or person responsible for supply ordering.
  7. Demonstrates initiative and makes good decisions in situations not covered by policies.
  8. Accepts and delivers constructive criticism in a positive manner.
  1. Performs phlebotomy/triage duties as needed.
  2. Performs additional duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Clinical Laboratory Science from an accredited institution or comparable degree that includes equivalent class completion of the required biology and chemistry disciplines.
  2. Knowledge of all functions of the Laboratory Meditech System
  3. Documented successful completion of training acceptable for eligibility for certification.
  4. ASCP or equivalent certification preferred but not required.
