Primary Objective of Position:

The Mechanical Engineering Manager leads a team responsible for the development of fixtures used for in-circuit and functional testing of printed circuit and electro-mechanical assemblies, including: generation of required computer aided design files; finite element and strain analysis and verification; engineering quality control; generation of manufacturing planning inputs and execution instructions; and ERP system release of engineered demands to the procurement and manufacturing teams. This manager establishes standards for tools, processes, and techniques used to efficiently complete and verify high quality, manufacturing-ready test fixture designs.

Major Areas of Accountability:

  • Manage the flow of new customer demands through the Mechanical Engineering, Finite Element Analysis, Engineering Quality Control, Advanced Manufacturing Engineering, and Strain Gauge Testing processes to achieve quality, cost, and cycle time effective execution
  • Collaborate with customers, sales, engineering, and manufacturing teams to assure proper incorporation of technical requirements into test fixture designs
  • Identify and implement design process and software tool enhancements that result in continuous improvement in the efficiency and utilization of engineering resources
  • Maintain and routinely report comprehensive and balanced key performance metrics
  • Lead talent acquisition/retention, employee development, and performance management efforts for a team of seven to ten direct reports
  • Mentor subordinates in a manner that fosters continuous professional and technical capability growth, and that reinforces common utilization of design best practices
  • Lead or participate in process improvement efforts and in strategic initiatives that extend across functional organization boundaries
  • Support design for manufacturability assessments of test fixture designs.
