GENERAL DESCRIPTION


The Chief of Staff is responsible for driving organizational alignment, operational effectiveness, and execution of Alpha Delta Pi’s strategic priorities. As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, this role ensures that the organization’s strategy is clearly defined, effectively communicated, and consistently operationalized across teams. The Chief of Staff provides leadership and oversight for key enterprise functions, including Information Technology, Human Resources, Volunteer Management, and Data and Strategy—to strengthen systems, processes, and decision-making across the organization.


This role also leads the development of Alpha Delta Pi’s data and strategy capabilities, ensuring the organization effectively leverages internal and industry data to identify trends, inform decisions, and improve outcomes. Working in close partnership with the Executive Director, Senior Leaders, and key volunteers, the Chief of Staff helps connect priorities to execution, ensuring teams are aligned, resources are effectively deployed, and key initiatives move forward.


DUTIES PERFORMED

Strategic Leadership & Organizational Alignment

Support the development and implementation of organizational strategic priorities in partnership with the Executive Director, Grand Council, and Senior Leadership Team.Translate strategic initiatives into clear plans, timelines, and measurable outcomes.Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to track progress and inform decision-making.Ensure alignment between strategic priorities and operational work across teams.


Organizational Operations & Effectiveness

Lead the organization’s operational rhythm, including planning cycles, and tracking key initiatives.
Identify and address gaps, inefficiencies, and process challenges that impact organizational performance.Implement systems and processes that improve clarity, accountability, and cross-functional collaboration.Lead and execute high-priority, cross-functional projects as assigned. Support organizational initiatives that require coordination across multiple teams or stakeholders.


Team Leadership & Functional Oversight

Provide strategic leadership and direct supervision for: Data and strategy Human resources and volunteer management Information technology Ensure these functions are integrated, forward-thinking, and aligned to organizational priorities by partnering with functional leaders to support cross-functional coordination, clarity of priorities, and strategic alignment, while functional leaders maintain responsibility for day-to-day operations and execution within their respective areas.Guide the development of systems and infrastructure that support scalable operations and effective information flow.


Data, Strategy & Insights

Build and lead a data and strategy team that enhances organizational decision-making.Oversee the collection, analysis, and synthesis of internal and external data, including industry trends.Partner with IT to implement systems that improve data accessibility and usability.Translate data insights into practical recommendations that support strategy and operations.Facilitate the development and alignment of organizational and departmental key performance indicators (KPIs) in partnership with Senior Leadership Team members, ensuring metrics support strategic priorities and promote cross-functional alignment.


Communications & Organizational Liaison

Ensure consistent, aligned messaging and communication across teams and leadership. Support internal communications and change management efforts related to strategic initiatives. Represent Alpha Delta Pi in key partnerships and professional settings, as appropriate.


Culture, Leadership & Organizational Effectiveness

Partner with the Executive Director to strengthen staff and volunteer culture, leadership development, and organizational health.Promote accountability, collaboration, and alignment across teams. Support leadership development and performance excellence within supervised functions and across staff teams.


SUGGESTED BACKGROUND AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree or relevant professional experience preferred.Minimum 10 years of progressive leadership experience.Demonstrated experience in strategic planning, organizational leadership, and cross-functional project management.Experience advising Senior Leaders or Executives in a complex organization.Strong analytical skills with experience leveraging data to inform decision-making.Experience leading or partnering with functions such as IT, HR, and/or data analytics preferred.Knowledge of Alpha Delta Pi preferred. Experience in a membership-based, volunteer-driven, or higher education environment preferred.Exceptional communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.

POTENTIAL TRAVEL

Convention or Summer meeting (late June) Collegiate Officer Leadership Events (January/February) Conference travel as determined by supervisors (throughout the year)


EMPLOYMENT LOCATION

Alpha Delta Pi’s Executive Office in Atlanta, GA preferred; remote work may be considered. Remote work is not eligible in the following states: CA, NY, NJ, HI, AK. Atlanta-based staff participate in a hybrid work schedule that may be granted after the first 90 days of employment. Alpha Delta Pi reserves the right to change work status with notice to employee.
