Job Description
SUMMARY
Prepares cost estimates and specialized pricing by analyzing proposals and requirements for product manufacturing.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES (Other duties may be assigned)
? Understands scope of work to bid, prepares work to be estimated by gathering proposals, blueprints, specifications, and related documents.
? Analyzes blueprints, identifies material, labor, time requirements and freight to assess cost effectiveness of actual costs vs customer end price.
? Prepares estimates, specialized pricing, and purchase orders in detail for all products.
? Ensures timely completion of estimates and pricing. Presents prepared estimate or price by assembling and displaying numerical and descriptive information.
? Resolves discrepancies in a timely manner by collecting and analyzing information.
? Maintains cost data base by entering and backing up data into provided software.
? Establishes and maintains good working relationships and communication with customers, sales team, office personnel, production manager and his/her supporting staff, and supervisor(s).
? Maintains technical knowledge by attending or participating in educational workshops, webinar’s, and opportunities.
? Complies with all Company safety practices and procedures.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILIES
None required.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); 1-2 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
CERTIFICATION, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Must be eligible to complete any estimating and take off classes and/or certifications that may arise to enhance job performance.
SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Ability to understand product drawings and requirements, read blueprints and develop professional cost estimates.
- Strong understanding of HVAC & Roofing fabrication processes.
- Knowledge of raw materials, quality control, costs and other techniques that maximize effective production and distribution of goods.
- Strong analytical and math skills, ability to multitask and meet strict deadlines, impeccable problem-solving skills.
- Proficient computer skills with a strong understanding of Microsoft Office.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Most duties are performed from a seated position, but standing, walking for brief periods, and light lifting is required to complete tasks that are not desk based. Work involves utilizing standard office equipment such as computers, phones, copy machines and filing cabinets. There is potential for eye strain from reading detailed materials and looking at a computer screen. Work normally requires finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination to operate computer keyboards at a moderate skill level. Vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, ability to adjust and focus. The employee frequently is required to talk and hear.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
