Quintairos, Prieto, Wood & Boyer, P.A. (QPWB), a multi-office national defense firm and the largest minority- and women-owned law firm in the United States, is seeking an experienced Paralegal to join our Birmingham office, supporting attorneys handling civil litigation and insurance defense matters. About the RoleThe Paralegal will support attorneys through all phases of litigation, from case inception through resolution and trial. This position is ideal for an organized, detail-oriented legal professional who is comfortable managing multiple cases and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
The ideal candidate will have a strong civil litigation background, excellent organizational and communication skills, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a litigation team.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities- Support attorneys in all phases of civil litigation and insurance defense matters
- Draft and prepare legal documents, including pleadings, discovery requests and responses, subpoenas, notices, and correspondence
- Review, organize, and summarize medical records, reports, discovery materials, and other case-related documentation
- Assist with written discovery and coordinate the collection and production of responsive documents
- Manage case calendars and track court deadlines, hearings, depositions, mediations, and trial dates
- Coordinate and communicate with clients, experts, witnesses, opposing counsel, and court personnel
- Assist with deposition, mediation, and trial preparation, including organizing exhibits, witness files, and case materials
- Assist with Alabama State and Federal Court filings and ensure compliance with applicable filing procedures
- Maintain organized and accurate electronic and physical case files
- Monitor case progress and follow up on outstanding records, discovery, and other case-related items
- Assist with attorney time entry, billing, and other administrative responsibilities as needed

Qualifications- 3+ years of paralegal experience in civil litigation preferred
- Insurance defense experience strongly preferred
- Strong understanding of litigation procedures, court rules, and case management
- Familiarity with Alabama State and Federal Court filing procedures preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and legal case management software
- Excellent organizational, communication, and time-management skills
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple deadlines simultaneously
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative legal team
- Paralegal certificate or degree in Legal Studies preferred
