This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Data Scientist 4 based in United States.
This role offers the opportunity to lead advanced data science and AI initiatives supporting complex federal government programs.
You will apply machine learning, LLMs, statistical analysis, and automation to large and diverse datasets across areas such as public health, social science, and natural resources.
The position combines hands-on technical delivery with project leadership, client engagement, and strategic solution development.
You will help establish reliable data practices, quality standards, monitoring workflows, and analytical processes that produce trusted insights.
Working closely with clients and cross-functional teams, you will translate complex findings into practical recommendations and high-quality data products.
The role also provides opportunities to evaluate emerging technologies, contribute to proposals, and advance innovative analytics capabilities.
Success requires strong technical depth, consulting experience, and the ability to lead sophisticated data initiatives from planning through delivery.
- Lead the implementation and adoption of artificial intelligence, LLMs, machine learning, automation, and emerging analytical technologies across federal data science initiatives.
- Develop and oversee AI monitoring, evaluation, and quality workflows to ensure analytical solutions perform effectively and reliably.
- Lead the analysis, visualization, interpretation, and synthesis of diverse federal datasets to generate actionable insights.
- Manage the delivery of analytical products, reports, dashboards, recommendations, and other data-driven deliverables for clients and stakeholders.
- Provide technical leadership throughout the data lifecycle, including data intake, storage, governance, synthesis, automation, analytics, and product development.
- Establish and implement data management, analytics, QA/QC, defect tracking, and governance processes that promote data quality, integrity, security, and availability.
- Serve as a primary technical and operational point of contact for clients, stakeholders, and project leadership, ensuring clear communication and effective delivery.
- Manage project priorities, resource planning, workload coordination, milestones, and delivery schedules to support successful project outcomes.
- Evaluate AI-enabled tools and methodologies to improve data processing, coding efficiency, workflow automation, and analytical capabilities.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to communicate complex analytical findings clearly and translate them into actionable business and program recommendations.
- Support proposal development, technical solutioning, project planning, and business development activities.
- Promote continuous improvement, innovation, and adoption of data science and analytics best practices across project teams.
- Bachelor’s degree plus 9 years of relevant experience, Master’s degree plus 7 years, or PhD plus 4 years of relevant experience.
- Degree in a data-focused discipline such as Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Informatics, Economics, Mathematics, Social Science, Public Health, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of AI tools, LLMs, machine learning concepts, statistical methodologies, data analytics, and emerging technologies.
- Proven experience managing analytics projects, contract tasks, technical initiatives, and client-facing deliverables.
- Strong programming and analytical capabilities using SQL, Python, SAS, and/or R.
- Proficiency with version control tools such as Git, Bitbucket, and SourceTree.
- Experience working in a consulting environment with direct client engagement, stakeholder management, and technical communication.
- Strong technical writing skills with the ability to produce clear, concise, and well-documented analyses, reports, presentations, and technical materials.
- Strong critical-thinking, communication, collaboration, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience supporting proposal efforts, technical solution development, project planning, and business development.
- Ability to stay current with developments in AI, machine learning, data science, and emerging analytical technologies and apply relevant advances to project work.
- Ability to obtain and maintain Public Trust access for federal information systems and successfully complete a federal background investigation.
- Preferred experience includes supporting federal data and research programs, particularly projects involving NIH, USACE, NOAA, or EPA.
- A PhD in a social science discipline, experience with user research and human-centered design, and knowledge of Agile methodologies are advantageous.
- Experience with Jira, Confluence, dashboard development, workflow automation, predictive analytics, machine learning, or AI-enabled products is a plus.
