This senior engineering role focuses on designing and evolving search, knowledge graph, and data platforms that power customer-facing healthcare insights. You will help shape the technical direction of a high-scale platform built around extensive healthcare professional and affiliation data. The role combines hands-on software development with architecture, data engineering, distributed systems, and technical leadership. You will own features end to end, from problem definition and schema design through implementation, rollout, and ongoing optimization. You’ll collaborate closely with engineering, product, and customer-facing teams while improving performance, reliability, observability, and data quality. • Own the full lifecycle of platform features, from problem definition and schema modeling through implementation, versioned rollout, maintenance, and deprecation planning.

• Drive the evolution of search and knowledge graph platforms by reducing redundancy, optimizing payloads, improving usability, and supporting scalable customer-facing experiences.

• Translate business and product needs into clear technical specifications, well-scoped development tasks, and maintainable engineering solutions.

• Remain hands-on in the codebase while providing technical direction and making architecture decisions for critical platform initiatives.

• Design, develop, and maintain data pipelines and transformation workflows that support search and knowledge graph capabilities.

• Define scalable integration patterns for internal and external data exchange and customer-facing data delivery.

• Drive improvements in system performance, scalability, reliability, and resilience as data volumes and product complexity increase.

• Lead troubleshooting of complex system and data issues while establishing strong practices for observability, testing, reliability, and data quality.

• Ensure data security, integrity, and appropriate compliance with governance and regulatory requirements.

• Author technical design documentation and align stakeholders around architecture, implementation, and delivery decisions.

• Mentor engineers, promote strong engineering standards, and contribute to continuous improvement across the team.

• Use AI-assisted development tools and practices, such as Claude and GitHub Copilot, to improve engineering productivity and output quality.

• Strong software development skills in Python or Node.js, with experience building high-availability search and data platforms.

• Proven experience designing, developing, and operating data systems and pipelines at scale.

• Deep experience designing and evolving Elasticsearch-based search platforms and knowledge graph systems.

• Experience designing external-facing platforms, including API versioning, pagination, integration patterns, and deprecation strategies.

• Familiarity with data orchestration tools such as Apache Airflow.

• Experience with containerization and infrastructure technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes, and/or Terraform.

• Experience working with relational databases such as PostgreSQL.

• Proficiency with Git, Jira, and CI/CD platforms such as CircleCI.

• Strong understanding of distributed systems, data engineering, search architecture, and scalable platform design.

• Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills, with the ability to diagnose complex system and data issues.

• Ability to write clean, maintainable, scalable code and establish high engineering-quality standards.

• Experience creating technical design documents and influencing architecture decisions across teams.

• Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with engineering, product, and customer-facing teams.

• Comfortable taking ownership in ambiguous environments and managing initiatives from concept through production and iteration.

• Experience with healthcare data domains, ETL, search platform design, or customer-facing data delivery systems is a plus.

• Experience with AI-assisted engineering practices is beneficial.
