Position Summary:
The ideal candidate willjoin a vibrant educational community, and have a desire and ability to serve apopulation of students with various needs and backgrounds. The candidate is expected to commit toexcellence in teaching and learning, collaboration and professionaldevelopment. Adjunct faculty areexpected to deliver course materials in a learner-centered environment conduciveto engaging students in the learning process. The faculty member in thisposition communicates consistently and effectively with students, faculty andadministrators, and responds to communications within a 24-hour period of time.The faculty is responsible for managing this course through timely grading ofassignments, providing substantial student feedback with assignments, andsubmission of clinical evaluations, attendance and grades.
Massachusetts Bay Community College invites applicationsfor an adjunct facultyposition in Mathematics from qualifiedapplicants. Responsibilities will include developing and teaching courses in the area of mathematics. They will also demonstrate an ability to engage, mentor, andwork with diverse student
populations. The candidate willdemonstrate a strong commitmentto excellence in teaching and learning, collaboration andprofessional development.
Key Responsibilities and Duties:
- Work in collaboration with math department faculty toprepare syllabi and develop curricula in alignment with the department’s visionand needs;
- Meet studentsregularly at the posted class times and teach assigned courses using effectiveinstructional strategies that promote student learning and preparation;
- Useappropriate assessment methods consistently and regularly to measure studentunderstanding;
- Engagein professional development activities to learn current practices in math andstatistics education and to maintain excellence in teaching and learning;
- Participatein the department’s activities and support the program-level assessmentefforts;
- Attendmeetings and submit reports or information as requested consistent with theprovisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement;
- Maintainexcellent communication with students, department, and division staff throughoutthe semester;
- Submitmidterm and final grade reports, attendance records, early alerts, and otherreports pertaining to assigned courses by required due dates;
- Carryout other related duties as assigned by the Dean consistent with the CollectiveBargaining Agreement.

Required Qualifications:
Master’sdegree in math, statistics, or a closely related quantitative field.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Sensitivity and commitment to the goals of Affirmative Action;
- Experience working in a community college or similar environment;
- Demonstrated commitment to working with students in need;
- Interest in and availability to teach on-campus day or evening courses in Fall 2022 and beyond;
- Demonstrated commitment to academic standards, student learning, and student support.
Additional Information:
Salary Range: $1,397 - $1,585 per credit
