Certified Medical Assistant (CMA)
Position Summary: Under the direction and supervision of the Medical Director, the CMA will be working closely with the providers performing a variety of tasks that is under their scope of practice. This will include but not limited to the following: phlebotomy, EKG, specimen collection, takes vital signs and weights of participants, escorts participants to exam rooms, prepares participants to be seen in the clinic and assists physician and nurses in provision of examinations and treatment. Ensures exam rooms are prepared for nursing and physician use and stocked with appropriate supplies. Obtains information from participants as directed by the Clinic RN or physician. Clerical duties and follow up diagnostic testing and bloodwork results dictated by the provider. Participates in clinic meetings and overall planning related to clinic. Accepts other duties as assigned by the Medical Director.
Basic Qualifications
Education/Training/Certifications:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Current Certified Medical Assistant License
- BLS Certification
Skill(s):
- Knowledge of principles, practices, standards and techniques of a CMA.
- Phlebotomy, EKG, BGM, specimen collection
- Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions for a safe work environment
- Knowledge of medical equipment use and maintenance
- Skilled in establishing and maintain effective working relationships with participants, co-workers, medical staff and the public
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively
- Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations
- Basic computer literacy
- Customer service focus
Experience:
Minimum of 1 year working with a frail or elderly population.
