About This Position

Job Overview/Summary:

The Staff & Payroll Accountant will provide administrative and financial support services. The position works closely with other accounting personnel, internal departments, and external parties. Ensures accuracy and compliance with all accounting regulations. Ensures the generation of the company payroll, including labor distribution records, paid time off (PTO) accrual, overtime and withholding status. Submit timely and accurate information to payroll provider to ensure Calidi meets all government reporting requirements for payroll taxes, withholding and employer contributions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepares month end journal entries, including, but not limited to, accruals, expense allocations, prepaids for monthly, quarterly, and yearly financial close process
  • Performs general accounts analysis and reconciliations on assigned accounts
  • Processes payroll on a bi-weekly basis for exempt and non-exempt employees
  • Prepares and submits 1099s, 3921s, and other compensation related reports
  • Assists with external audits and reviews on a quarterly and annual basis
  • Assists with systems implementation
  • Reviews and process corporate card expense reports and verify appropriate documentation on a monthly basis
  • Assists Finance and Accounting team with ad hoc projects or additional account reconciliations, as necessary
  • Other duties as needed

Skills/Qualifications:

  • Minimum 2-5 years’ experience in accounting/finance
  • Proficient user of MS Excel, Word, and Outlook is required. NetSuite, QuickBooks, ADP, and Concur experience is preferred
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to multitask and perform efficiently with deadlines
  • Demonstrate a high level of attention to detail
  • Ability to interface well with all levels of staff and management
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
  • Good understanding of US GAAP financials
  • Sarbanes-Oxley or pre-IPO, experience a plus

Education, Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

Associate degree or higher in accounting.

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as calculations and reconciliations. Ability to apply concepts such as percentages and ratios to practical situations.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

Language Skills:

Ability to read and understand accounting procedures. Ability to write reports. Ability to effectively present data and respond to questions from co-workers.
