Patient Care Tech (PCT)

One (1) year experience as a patient care tech (or similar title) in a hospital. Hospital experience may be substituted with Two (2) years patient care assisting experience in other health care facilities or One (1) year experience as a medical technician or hospital corpsman in the U.S. Armed Forces. Current enrollment in clinical portion of a nursing program or completion of PCT, CNA or Medical Assistant program eliminates experience requirements.

Critical Care Tech (CCT)

Education & Training:

High School diploma or GED equivalent. Graduate of an approved State Technical College program in patient care assisting, licensed practical nursing, emergency medical technician or paramedic or currently enrolled in and participating in the clinical portion of a nursing degree program. Education/training (except for HS diploma or GED equivalent) may be waived with experience listed below.

Experience:

Two (2) years’ experience as a patient care tech (or similar title) in a hospital. Hospital experience may be substituted with Two (2) years patient care assisting experience in other health care facilities and a GA Certified Nursing Assistant certification or Two (2) years’ experience as a medical technician or hospital corpsman in the U.S. Armed Forces. Current enrollment in clinical portion of a nursing program eliminates experience requirements.

Monitor Tech (MT)

One (1) year of experience in a medical office or acute clinical care setting or one (1) year of experience in computer operations or information technology setting.

Nurse Extern (NE)

High School diploma or GED equivalent is required. Must be currently enrolled in their last year of an accredited registered nursing program OR graduate of accredited registered nursing program and not taken boards. Must have passed boards within 6 months of graduation. Shows proof of 2.5 GPA and must remain in good standing with the nursing school.

Health Unit Coordinator (HUC)

One (1) year clerical experience or six (6) months experience as a Houston Healthcare Patient Care Technician.
