Pay Range: $ 67.92/hr - $91.69/hr
*Please note, the highest starting rate as a new hire is $79.81/hr, based on applicable experience

POSITION SUMMARY:
An advanced practice nurse (APN) is a Registered Nurse who possesses additional clinical and didactic education to function at an advanced level of nursing practice. The APN will provide cancer risk assessment services for patients. The advanced practice nurse will work independently providing clinical health care services including evaluation of patients for risk factors for hereditary cancer syndromes, education and counseling to patients and their families, physical examination, genetic testing as indicated and follow up that includes results discussion, recommendations and referrals as indicated. The advanced practice nurse candidate will be a part of Cancer Genetics and Prevention Program; a service line within the Enloe Comprehensive Cancer Center. This program is designed to provide comprehensive risk assessment and management of patients who are at risk for a hereditary cancer. The APN will provide comprehensive genetic cancer risk assessment for those who are at risk for cancer and for those who have already been diagnosed with cancer.

The APN will provide the following: Provide patient with information regarding hereditary cancer syndromes and assist in explaining available testing options; Assess for genetic and non-genetic risk factors that predispose individuals to cancer; Assist patients and families in understanding the implication of genetic test results including changes in medical management and provide psychosocial support and counseling as it relates to genetic testing; Interpret genetic test results and provide appropriate cancer surveillance and management recommendations; Provide patients with cancer risk and risk reduction strategies; Assist in the screening and early detection of cancer, including physical examination; Serve as an expert resource on hereditary cancer syndromes for both patients and clinicians; and work in partnership and collaboration with other members of the health care team, both inside and outside of Enloe Medical Center.; Participate in a comprehensive, multi-disciplinary oncology service line. This includes regular participation in weekly multidisciplinary cancer conferences.


EDUCATION / TRAINING / EXPERIENCE:
Desired:
* Cancer genetics and/or cancer risk assessment and screening
* One year experience in an oncology setting

LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS:
Minimum:
* Current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner with the California Board of Registered Nursing AND Graduate of a Family Nurse Practitioner Program, OR Current licensure as a Nurse Midwife with the California Board of Registered Nursing (Certified as a Nurse-midwife by the American College of Nurse-Midwives or the American College of Nurse-Midwives Certification Council
* Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) number or proof of application
* Meets Centers for MediCal and Medicaid Services (CMS) criteria to bill Medicare
* Current CPR Certification
* Credentialed through the Enloe Medical Staff Office and Finance Office

* Applicants will be expected to complete the Intensive Course in Genetic Cancer Risk Assessment provided by City of Hope. Upon completion of the course, the APN will be expected to join the Clinical Cancer Genomics Community of Practice (CCGCoP). Members of the CCGCoP are invited to take part in regularly scheduled and open-ended opportunities to consult and collaborate. (tracked by department)
