Position Summary:
The Provider will diagnose and treat patients with acute and chronic conditions as well as serving as a consultant and educator. The Provider will obtain complete history and physical data on patients, reviews patient records, and interpret data to determine appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic procedures needed. The Provider will perform a complete physical exam and record findings and establish presumptive diagnosis. Orders appropriate laboratory and diagnostic procedures, synthesizes data to determine preliminary diagnosis and therapeutic plan utilizing principles of prevention, and will interview and advise patients regarding health and illness prevention. Reviews plan of care and treatment with supervising physician as appropriate. The Provider will recommend community resources to meet patient and family needs. Additionally, the Provider will be responsible for coding visits appropriately in compliance with CMC Coding and Compliance policies and CCI. The Provider will make referrals to physicians and other healthcare providers, document assessment, management, and education clearly and concisely within the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
All organizational staff, including this position, are specifically required as a condition of continued employment to make advance preparations for their families and pets in the event of weather emergencies such as Hurricanes and flooding threats. Any staff member can be determined as essential staff required to report to the facility during these events. In many cases this means reporting and sleeping at the facility before, during and after a weather emergency. By signing this job description, the staff member accepts this responsibility of readiness to report to work during any designated emergency staffing situation. CMC staff members operate as one team meeting the healthcare needs of our communities, thus this position will on occasion complete other duties as assigned beyond those designated in this primary job description which may include “float” coverage at an alternate facility, department or assignment.
Education:
- Master’s degree (MSN) in nursing from an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program or completion of an accredited Physician Assistant Program required.
Experience:
- Minimum one (1) year experience working in a physician practice required. (Three (3) years preferred.)
- One (1) year Family Medicine experience preferred.
Licensure/Certification/Registration:
- Current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in the State of South Carolina in good standing (SCLLR) required.
- Basic Life Saving (BLS) Certification required.
Special Skills:
- Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with nursing colleagues, physicians, department heads, and member of executive leadership required.
- Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Explorer and PowerPoint required.
- Exemplary core customer service skills strongly required.
- Strong organizational skills required.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills required.
- Ability to remain calm and professional in all situations required.
- Ability to exercise independent judgement in emergency situations required.

Physical Requirements:
Light-Medium - While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently (activity or condition exists from 1/3 to 2/3 of the time) required to stand, sit, and walk; frequently to use hands, fingers; and frequently to talk or hear. The employee must exert 15 to 20 pounds of force occasionally (activity or condition exists up to 1/3 of the time), and/or 5 to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 5 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Ability to hear to process instructions and safety code and alarms required.
