Job Description
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, which manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Platform Engineer based in Brazil.
Role OverviewJoin a fast-growing technology team building a modern email infrastructure platform designed to improve the developer experience. As a Platform Engineer, you will play a key role in designing, building, and maintaining the cloud infrastructure, internal tools, and systems that enable engineering teams to deliver reliable services at scale. You will focus primarily on AWS infrastructure, automation, security, observability, and operational excellence. By developing self-service workflows and reusable platform capabilities, you will help engineers work more efficiently while maintaining high standards of reliability and performance. You will collaborate with distributed engineering teams in a remote-first environment that values autonomy, technical excellence, and continuous improvement. This role offers meaningful ownership, opportunities to influence platform strategy, and the chance to contribute to infrastructure supporting millions of developers worldwide.
Design, build, and maintain scalable, secure, and reliable cloud infrastructure, primarily using AWS.
Develop and manage infrastructure as code using tools such as AWS CDK, Terraform, or Pulumi.
Build and improve internal platform tools, automation, and self-service workflows that simplify infrastructure management and common engineering tasks.
Establish and maintain platform standards, architectural patterns, and best practices to ensure consistent service development, deployment, and operations.
Improve system reliability, performance, security, and observability through effective monitoring, alerting, and operational processes.
Participate in incident response, investigate infrastructure issues, and implement long-term improvements to prevent recurring problems.
Collaborate with engineering teams to identify infrastructure challenges and develop reusable solutions that improve developer productivity.
Support distributed systems and production workloads across networking, load balancing, databases, caching, queues, workers, and delivery pipelines.
Contribute to technical decision-making, communicate architectural trade-offs, and take ownership of platform initiatives from design through production operation.
At least 8 years of experience in infrastructure engineering, platform engineering, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), or a related technical discipline.
Strong hands-on experience managing production infrastructure as code using tools such as AWS CDK, Terraform, or Pulumi.
Solid working knowledge of AWS services and cloud infrastructure architecture.
Strong understanding of distributed systems and their core components, including queues, workers, databases, caching, networking, and load balancing.
Experience with observability and monitoring tools such as Datadog, Grafana, or OpenTelemetry.
Ability to work across the technology stack, from networking and load balancers to CI/CD pipelines and application delivery systems.
Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to improving infrastructure reliability, performance, and operational efficiency.
Demonstrated ownership, sound technical judgment, and the ability to work independently while recognizing when collaboration or support is needed.
Excellent written and spoken English, with the ability to communicate clearly across distributed teams and maintain consistent overlap with Americas working hours.
Preferred qualifications:
Experience operating high-throughput, production systems at significant scale.
Experience building internal developer platforms, engineering tooling, or self-service infrastructure capabilities.
Background in developer tools, public APIs, email infrastructure, or similar technology platforms.
Strong technical experience with Node.js, TypeScript, Go, and PostgreSQL.
Competitive compensation: Annual salary ranging from $150,000 to $180,000 USD, depending on location and experience.
Fully remote work: Work remotely as part of a geographically distributed engineering team, with flexibility around shared working hours.
Meaningful ownership: Influence technical decisions, shape platform development, and take responsibility for the systems you build and operate.
Autonomy and impact: Identify opportunities for improvement, propose solutions, and drive initiatives forward.
Technical excellence: Work in an environment that prioritizes reliability, security, performance, and high-quality engineering practices.
Collaborative culture: Join a low-ego team that values open feedback, knowledge sharing, and continuous learning.
Professional growth: Develop your expertise while contributing to infrastructure and developer tools used at substantial scale.
Team engagement: Opportunities to participate in team offsites, conferences, meetups, and other in-person activities, with some travel expected.
