Job Description
Phlebotomist/Registrar

DEFINITION/PRIMARY FUNCTION
-
Being knowledgeable and proficient for performing venipunctures and related procedures. Responsible for accurately identifying patients, test orders, and test requirements. Recognize how the position and duties are related to the overall function of the laboratory and patient satisfaction. Responsible for coordinating and processing all specimens. Responsibilities include accurate patient and specimen identity, accurate ordering of tests, accurate labeling of tubes and specimens.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS (Minimum qualifications are required unless stated otherwise.)

Experience:
-
One year of experience as a phlebotomist preferred
-
One year of experience in a hospital environment is preferred

Education and Training:
-
High school diploma or equivalent
-
-
License, Certification & Registration:
-
Valid Massachuseets driver’s license preferred
-

Other Requirements:
-
Proven typing ability (40 wpm) and computer skills
-
Demonstrated strong verbal and written communication skills
-
Ideal candidate will demonstrate and maintain a high level of flexibility. Proven ability to interact appropriately with the community, hospital staff and physicians and maintain high level of confidentiality

Must possess and demonstrate strong organizational skills
-
Ability to speak the English language in a clearly understandable manner

Abilility to work with patients of all ages

Ability to troubleshoot/maintain proper operation of business equipment preferred

Ability to teach students phlebotomy skills
