Job Description

Manager, Perioperative Operations & Business Optimization

  • GENERAL SUMMARY
    • The Manager, Perioperative Operations & Business Optimization reports to the Director, Perioperative Services and is responsible for managing business operations, operational optimization, and strategic initiatives across the perioperative division. This position collaborates closely with nursing, surgery, anesthesiology, sterile processing, and administrative leadership to improve operational performance, enhance patient access, optimize resource utilization, and support long-term strategic goals. The role leverages data analytics, process improvement methodologies, and financial stewardship to drive efficiency, quality outcomes, and service line growth. Serves as a key advisor to perioperative leadership through the development of performance metrics, operational dashboards, business plans, and strategic recommendations that support continuous improvement and organizational objectives.

  • ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
    • Leads operational improvement initiatives focused on patient throughput, operating room utilization, scheduling efficiency, turnover times, supply chain optimization, and workforce productivity.
    • Applies Lean, Six Sigma, change management, and other performance improvement methodologies to identify opportunities, implement solutions, and measure outcomes.
    • Analyzes operational, financial, quality, and patient experience data to identify trends, benchmark performance, and recommend improvement strategies.
    • Collaborates with clinical and administrative leaders to develop and execute strategic plans that align perioperative services with organizational priorities and growth initiatives.
    • Facilitates multidisciplinary teams in the evaluation, redesign, and standardization of workflows to improve operational effectiveness and patient outcomes.
    • Develops business cases, feasibility studies, ROI analyses, and operational assessments to support capital investments, new programs, and service line expansion.
    • Establishes and monitors key performance indicators (KPIs), regularly reporting performance trends and recommendations to senior leadership.
    • Supports regulatory readiness, accreditation activities, and compliance initiatives through process evaluation and performance monitoring.
    • Identifies opportunities for revenue enhancement, expense reduction, and operational efficiencies while maintaining high standards of quality and patient care.
    • Leads, manages, coaches, and trains a team or department, provides guidance, support, and mentors to ensure optimal performance and productivity.
    • Oversees the recruitment, hiring, team/department orientation, performance appraisals and disciplinary actions including up to termination processes for a team or department.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
    • Required Education and Experience
      • Master’s degree in Hospital Administration, Health Services Administration, Business Administration, or a related field is required.
      • Three to five years of progressively responsible experience in healthcare operations, business administration, strategic planning, performance improvement, financial management, or related healthcare leadership roles.
      • Demonstrated experience leading operational improvement, process redesign, workflow optimization, and organizational change initiatives.
      • Experience utilizing healthcare analytics, benchmarking tools, and performance management systems to support operational and strategic decision-making.
    • Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
      • Exceptional leadership, facilitation, communication, and relationship-building skills with the ability to work effectively across clinical, operational, and executive stakeholders.
      • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including advanced Excel and Power BI or other healthcare analytics platforms.
      • Strong knowledge of healthcare finance, budgeting, productivity management, and resource allocation.
  • WORKING CONDITIONS
    • Normal office environment with little exposure to excessive noise, dust, temperature and the like.
