What We’re Looking For
MJW Investments is seeking an enthusiastic, organized, and service-driven Assistant Property Manager to support the day-to-day operations of a multifamily portfolio totaling approximately 210 units across multiple communities in Vancouver, Washington.
This is not just a desk position. We’re looking for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and takes pride in resident experience, operational support, and maintaining well-managed communities. The ideal candidate enjoys working with people, can pivot quickly when priorities change, and understands the importance of professionalism, urgency, and follow-through.
The Assistant Property Manager serves as a key support partner to the Property Manager and onsite teams by assisting with leasing activity, resident relations, rent collection, compliance, administrative operations, and overall property performance.
What You’ll Be Doing
Resident & Tenant Relations
- Foster positive relationships with prospective and current residents
- Provide exceptional customer service and professional communication
- Assist with resident retention initiatives and resident events
- Address resident concerns promptly and escalate issues when appropriate
- Assist with move-in and move-out processes
- Conduct quality assurance follow-ups on completed work orders
- Help reduce resident turnover by identifying concerns and assisting with resolution efforts
Leasing & Administrative Operations
- Assist with full-cycle leasing activities including tours, applications, screening, lease preparation, and move-ins
- Advertise and promote the property through approved marketing channels
- Utilize Yardi Voyager, CRM systems, and other property management software for lead tracking and operational tasks
- Ensure compliance with renter’s insurance requirements
- Maintain accurate resident files and documentation
- Support the Property Manager with daily administrative operations
- Attend training and development seminars as assigned
Financial & Operational Support
- Assist with rent collection and delinquency follow-up
- Support occupancy goals and leasing performance initiatives
- Assist the Property Manager with vendor invoice processing and follow-up
- Support invoice tracking, purchase orders, and general operational organization
- Coordinate with maintenance teams regarding work order follow-up and apartment readiness
- Assist with monitoring property appearance and curb appeal
- Help ensure compliance with company policies, Fair Housing regulations, and landlord-tenant laws
Team Collaboration
- Work collaboratively with onsite teams, centralized support teams, vendors, and leadership
- Communicate effectively with the Property Manager regarding operational concerns and resident matters
- Adapt to changing priorities and support multiple properties as needed
- Assist with special projects and additional duties assigned by management
Exposure & Work Environment
Onsite & Office Presence: Combination of onsite property management and office-based work.
Schedule: Tuesday – Saturday | 40 Hours Per Week
Schedule and property assignments may change based on operational and business needs.
Travel: Light travel may be required between properties within the region.
Outdoor & Indoor Work: Periodic site inspections may require exposure to varying weather conditions.
Stakeholder Engagement: Frequent interaction with tenants, vendors, contractors, and internal teams.
Property & Maintenance Oversight: Walking through active maintenance or construction areas as needed.
What You’ll Bring
- Minimum of two years of experience in multifamily property management or a similar industry.
- Strong tenant relations skills with a proven track record in resident retention and lease compliance.
- Experience leading teams and optimizing property operations.
- Proficiency in property management software (Yardi or similar preferred).
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to multitask and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred but not required:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, Property Management, or a related field.
Performance Metrics & Bonus Eligibility
Performance expectations, including key metrics, will be determined by the assigned portfolio and discussed with the employee by their manager. These metrics may include, but are not limited to, financial performance, lease renewals, resident retention rates, and delinquency management. Bonuses and performance-based incentives are calculated based on these metrics, aligning with company goals and property performance
