Job Description
Position Summary
The Oncology Dietitian will assess cancer patients’ nutritional status, develop personalized care plans and provide ongoing education and support to help patients maintain their nutritional health throughout treatment. The Oncology Dietitian works closely with the interdisciplinary team to provided integrated care to cancer patients.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities Include the Following:
- Understands and adheres to the WPH Performance Standards, Policies and Behaviors.
- Utilizes appropriate steps in the decision-making process to include recognition and priority setting related to patient care.
- Addresses issues with appropriate actions.
- Collaborates with the health care team
- Integrates patient rights into work practice
- Utilizes and monitors methods of infection control
- Participates in performance improvement initiatives
- Utilizes cost containment practices
- Ability to determine the learning needs of the patient
- Provides education to patients, families and healthcare providers
- Stays up to date on latest nutrition research and guidelines
- Performs all other related duties as assigned.
Education & Experience Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Nutrition or Dietetics from an accredited college.
- Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR).
- At least three years’ experience in Clinical Nutrition with a focus on oncology preferred.
- Specialist in Oncology Nutrition (CSO) or completion of certification within one year of hire.
- Proficient in using electronic health records systems
- Experience in patient education and public speaking
- Successful completion of Department Programs
- Successful completion of WPHC orientation program

Physical/Mental Demands/Requirements & Work Environment
May be exposed to chemicals necessary to perform required tasks. Any hazardous chemicals the employee may be exposed to are listed in the hospital’s SDS (Safety Data Sheet) data base and may be accessed through the hospital’s Intranet site (Employee Tools/SDS Access). A copy of the SDS data base can also be found at the hospital switchboard, saved on a disc.

Salary Range: $63,386.31-$95,090.19
