This role sits at the heart of a mission-driven engineering organization focused on improving access to mental healthcare through reliable, scalable digital products. You will lead high-performing engineering teams responsible for building and evolving patient-facing systems that directly impact care delivery and patient outcomes. Acting as a key partner to Product and Design, you will translate strategic objectives into robust technical execution while ensuring operational excellence. The position requires balancing hands-on technical leadership with people management, helping engineers grow while maintaining a high bar for quality and delivery. You will also play a critical role in shaping architecture decisions, improving system performance, and driving cross-functional alignment. This is a high-impact leadership opportunity where engineering directly contributes to meaningful real-world healthcare outcomes.
- Lead and scale engineering teams responsible for building and maintaining patient-facing software systems that support mental healthcare delivery.
- Partner closely with Product and Design to translate product strategy into scalable, reliable, and high-quality technical solutions.
- Oversee the design and delivery of production-grade APIs, services, and web applications at scale.
- Provide technical guidance on architecture, system design, and trade-off decisions while staying close enough to the codebase to unblock teams.
- Drive execution across multiple initiatives, ensuring delivery velocity, accountability, and engineering excellence.
- Hire, mentor, and develop engineers, building high-performing and engaged technical teams.
- Promote operational excellence through strong engineering practices, including monitoring, retrospectives, and postmortems.
- 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, including at least 3+ years in engineering management roles.
- Proven experience delivering and scaling production software in fast-paced, high-growth environments.
- Strong technical foundation in web application architecture, APIs, and cloud-based systems.
- Experience building and scaling high-throughput backend services or distributed systems.
- Demonstrated ability to lead engineering teams while remaining technically engaged in architecture and code quality.
- Strong track record in hiring, coaching, and retaining high-performing engineers.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills across engineering, product, and design teams.
- Experience in healthcare, wellness, or regulated industries is a plus.
- Familiarity with scaling systems during periods of rapid growth or launching new product lines is highly desirable.
- Exposure to modern engineering practices such as AI-assisted development workflows is a plus.
- Fully remote work environment across the United States (excluding Hawaii).
- Competitive total cash compensation ranging from $206,500 to $243,000 USD, plus equity.
