About the Role:

The Mechanic - Weekend Shift plays a critical role in ensuring the optimal performance and safety of vehicles and machinery during weekend operations. This position requires diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a variety of mechanical systems to minimize downtime and support continuous business functions. The mechanic will work independently and as part of a team to troubleshoot issues, perform routine inspections, and execute preventive maintenance. Attention to detail and adherence to safety standards are paramount to protect both personnel and equipment. Ultimately, this role contributes to operational efficiency by delivering reliable mechanical services during non-standard working hours.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of a recognized mechanic training program or apprenticeship.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Proven experience as a mechanic, preferably with weekend or shift work.
  • Ability to use diagnostic tools and repair equipment safely and effectively.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification from the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) or equivalent.
  • Experience working with both gasoline and diesel engines.
  • Familiarity with computerized diagnostic systems and software.
  • Strong understanding of safety regulations and environmental compliance standards.
  • Previous experience in a fast-paced or industrial maintenance environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform diagnostic tests to identify mechanical issues in vehicles and equipment.
  • Conduct repairs and replacements of faulty parts, including engines, brakes, transmissions, and electrical systems.
  • Carry out routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, tire rotations, and fluid checks to prevent breakdowns.
  • Maintain accurate records of all maintenance and repair work performed during the weekend shift.
  • Ensure compliance with safety protocols and company policies while working in the shop or on-site.
  • Collaborate with other team members and communicate effectively to coordinate repair schedules and parts ordering.
  • Respond promptly to emergency repair requests to minimize operational disruptions.

Skills:

The required skills enable the mechanic to accurately diagnose and repair mechanical issues, ensuring vehicles and equipment operate safely and efficiently during weekend shifts. Proficiency with diagnostic tools and repair techniques allows for timely and effective maintenance, reducing downtime.
