Primary Purpose of Position:
Priestly Demolition is seeking a Demolition Labourer to join our team and support a variety of demolition projects. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals who enjoy hands-on work, thrive in a team environment, and are looking to build a long-term career in the demolition and construction industry.
The Demolition Labourer will play a key role in supporting demolition activities by performing general labour duties, assisting with the safe operation of tools and equipment, handling and sorting materials, and maintaining a clean and organized worksite. The successful candidate will work closely with supervisors and crew members to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with company standards. A strong commitment to safety, reliability, and teamwork is essential. This position will report to the Superintendent and may require travel to various project locations as needed.
Job Duties
- Controlled deconstruction of commercial, residential and road infrastructure
- Properly and safely load and unload metal materials from trucks
- Comply with company safe work practices and procedures
- Read electrical schematics, blueprints and other technical diagrams
- Use manual and power tool assisted demolition methods, including lifting of debris into waste management bins or trucks
- Clean and perform preparation of work-site
- Various other duties as required

- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Knowledge of workplace safety and safe lifting and handling procedures
- Knowledge of First Aid and CPR preferred
- Ability to operate required equipment in a safe and responsible manner
- Effective verbal and listening communications skills
- Time management skills
- Ability to read electrical schematics, blueprints and other technical diagrams
- Critical eye for identifying defects
- Respect diversity - treat others with respect
- Avoid unnecessary conflict.
- Knowledge of appropriate materials, methods, and the tools required in various assembly processes
- Ability to work independently and complete daily activities according to work schedule
Work Conditions
- Job requires ability to work with a variety of hand and power tools
- Ability to lift and manipulate objects of up to 80 lbs for 50 feet is required
- Use of Personal Protection Equipment will be required (e.g. hard-hat, safety boots, etc.)
- Regularly works near moving mechanical parts and in conditions that include heat and humidity, and exposure to dust
- Must be able to lift, push, pull or carry objects, use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue and to effectively jump, sprint or throw an object
- Requires good manual dexterity (hand, hand with arm, two hands) and multi-limb coordination
- Noise level is generally loud
- Must be able to quickly move arms and legs
- Excellent stamina is required
- Hazards associated with the industry
