Job Description

The team you’ll be joining

EML Payments is a global leader in payments transaction technologies, turning everyday interactions with businesses into exceptional experiences.

We are an ASX listed global tech company - and we run the everyday transactions that make your life easier. EML is an issuer and processor of prepaid financial cards, ranging from reloadable cards through to traditional, single-store gift cards. We run in the background behind gift card, salary packaging and employee rewards programs and our headquarters are located in Melbourne, Australia, with approximately 450 employees across Australia, North America, and the UK/EU. We serve clients in 27 countries, process transactions exceeding AUD120B annually, and are focused on delivering double-digit growth by FY27.

  • The Risk and Compliance function is a global, matrixed team responsible for protecting EML, its customers, partners and regulated entities through effective second line oversight, risk management, regulatory compliance, financial crime governance, assurance, reporting and data protection. The Risk and Compliance function at EML is divided into two overarching teams:
  • Regional Risk and Compliance – hold broad responsibilities within their countries/regions and where applicable hold designated titles (such as SMF or PCF designations). They are supported in the execution of their functions and activities by a global team of specialists but maintain ultimate decision-making authority and control via oversight of all parts of programmes and activities that impact on their country/region.
  • Global Risk and Compliance – narrowly focussed specific functions or areas, providing deep subject matter expertise, framework design and execution support and standardisation across the group in the areas of Regulatory Compliance, Risk Management and Strategy, Testing and Assurance, Regulatory Engagement and Reporting, and Privacy and Consumer Protection.

The Senior Compliance Manager - Ireland sits within the Ireland regional team and supports the operation and oversight of EML Money DAC’s risk and compliance programme. The role is primarily focused on financial crime compliance and local support for the PCF-52 role, while also providing broader leadership and second line support across regulatory compliance and risk management matters that contribute to the effective discharge of the PCF-12 and PCF-14 responsibilities in Ireland.

Our culture & values

Our team knocks the boring out of payments and we do it in our own unique way: having a ‘one team’ mentality, being open, honest and trusted, bringing awesome every day, and knowing that simplicity is genius! Our core values are One Team, Openness, Awesomeness and Simplicity.

Our place is one of collaboration, teamwork & innovation. But, above all, it’s one that embraces difference. And rather than have you blend in, we want to help you unleash your full potential.

What you’ll do

The Senior Compliance Manager - Ireland is responsible for supporting the design, implementation and continuous enhancement of EML Money DAC’s local risk and compliance framework. The role holds senior accountability for financial crime compliance oversight, governance and escalation activity in Ireland, while also supporting broader regulatory compliance and risk management outcomes across the Irish business.

This position ensures EML maintains a strong, practical and well-governed compliance environment in Ireland through effective second line leadership, disciplined framework execution and close partnership with the business. The role plays a key leadership function in supporting the PCF-52 role locally, while also contributing to broader governance, regulatory and risk matters that support the PCF-12 and PCF-14 responsibilities in Ireland.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the design, implementation and continuous enhancement of the Ireland risk and compliance framework across relevant business activities and entities.
  • Provide senior second line leadership on financial crime compliance matters, including AML/CTF, sanctions and related regulatory requirements.
  • Support the PCF-52 role in the operation and oversight of the local financial crime framework, including governance, monitoring, escalation, reporting and regulatory engagement.
  • Lead or oversee monitoring, control reviews and thematic activity to identify, assess and track compliance risks, issues, trends and remediation actions.
  • Support the development, implementation and maintenance of compliance policies, procedures and controls to meet Irish regulatory obligations and business needs.
  • Coordinate and review regulatory reporting, regulatory correspondence and key compliance records to support timely, accurate and well-governed execution.
  • Provide clear, practical and commercially informed advice to business stakeholders, outsourced service providers and internal partners on compliance and financial crime matters.
  • Prepare and deliver high-quality management information, committee papers and other reporting for senior management and governance forums.
  • Support regulatory engagements, audits, inspections, reviews and remediation activity affecting the Irish business.
  • Partner with Group specialist teams and regional stakeholders to ensure local requirements are addressed appropriately within the broader Group framework.
  • Escalate material risks, control weaknesses and emerging issues appropriately and support effective action planning and follow-through.
  • Contribute to broader Ireland risk and compliance activity, including matters that support the effective discharge of PCF-12 and PCF-14 responsibilities.
  • Promote a strong culture of accountability, challenge, partnership and continuous improvement across the Irish business.
  • Support strategic initiatives, product changes and business developments by ensuring risk and compliance considerations are addressed early and effectively.

What you’ll bring

To succeed in this role, you will have:

  • Significant experience in compliance, financial crime or related control roles within regulated financial services, payments or fintech environments.
  • Strong experience supporting or overseeing financial crime compliance frameworks in a fast-paced and evolving regulated environment.
  • Good understanding of Irish and EU regulatory requirements relevant to payments businesses, with particular depth in AML/CTF and related financial crime obligations.
  • The ability to engage confidently with senior stakeholders on complex compliance and financial crime matters and translate requirements into practical business solutions.
  • Strong judgement, organisation and attention to detail, with the ability to identify issues, prioritise actions and maintain effective oversight of remediation and follow-through.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare clear reporting and engage effectively with regulators, auditors and internal stakeholders.
  • Experience working effectively in a global, matrixed environment and partnering with business teams, control functions and outsourced service providers.
  • A practical, proactive and outcome-focused mindset with a strong commitment to continuous improvement and sound second line oversight.

What we offer you

If you love what you do, you should love where you do it. We offer you:

  • A salary commensurate with your skills, experience and market benchmarks.
  • Participation in the company bonus scheme.
  • Eligible health care and pension benefits
  • A flexible hybrid working culture where you’re empowered to work in a way that suits your lifestyle.
  • Additional leave including our Take 5 extra annual leave program, birthday leave and two days of volunteer leave per year.
  • Parental support including up to 12 weeks of fully paid parental leave.
  • Growth and development opportunities including access to funding for professional memberships, certifications, conferences and more.
  • A culture that values collaboration, learning and continuous improvement.
  • A global business landscape that connects you with colleagues working throughout Australia, UK, North America and Europe.
  • Opportunities for international travel.
