Job Description
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Structural Fabrication Estimator based in Brazil.
This is an opportunity for an experienced estimator to support a growing custom metal fabrication operation serving complex structural and wastewater treatment projects.
You will take ownership of detailed material and quantity takeoffs, pricing, bid preparation, and pre-construction support.
The role requires strong technical judgment and the ability to identify scope gaps, discrepancies, and cost risks before bids are submitted.
You will work closely with a senior estimator and collaborate with vendors, subcontractors, clients, and internal stakeholders.
The position offers meaningful autonomy, exposure to varied fabrication projects, and the opportunity to increase quoting capacity as project volume grows.
You will also work with modern estimating workflows, including an internal AI-powered quoting system, while maintaining high standards for accuracy and reliability.
This role is well suited to a detail-oriented professional who can manage multiple bids independently while contributing effectively within a distributed team.
- Perform detailed material and quantity takeoffs for structural steel, custom metal fabrication, and other complex fabrication projects.
- Prepare accurate estimates, bids, pricing proposals, and supporting documentation based on drawings, specifications, and project requirements.
- Review project documentation to identify scope requirements, discrepancies, potential cost impacts, estimating risks, and missing information.
- Prepare submittals, revisions, RFI responses, and other pre-construction documentation as required.
- Coordinate with vendors, subcontractors, clients, and internal stakeholders to gather pricing, clarify requirements, and support successful bid preparation.
- Communicate with clients and vendors by phone and other channels when necessary to resolve questions and obtain project information.
- Support pre-construction activities and subcontractor coordination throughout the estimating process.
- Manage multiple estimates, bids, and deadlines simultaneously while maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Use internal job-tracking processes and AI-powered quoting tools to improve estimating efficiency and consistency.
- Collaborate with the senior estimator to review estimates, validate pricing, and maintain reliable cost information.
- Continuously identify opportunities to improve estimating workflows, accuracy, and quoting capacity.
- 3+ years of hands-on experience in structural fabrication estimating, with demonstrated responsibility for takeoffs, bid preparation, and cost estimation.
- Professional background in structural steel, custom metal fabrication, heavy fabrication, or a closely related field.
- Strong understanding of fabrication processes, materials, labor requirements, and project costs.
- Proven ability to produce accurate, detailed estimates and identify potential scope gaps or cost risks.
- Fluent English communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to communicate effectively with clients, vendors, subcontractors, and internal teams.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple bids, priorities, and deadlines simultaneously.
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision while remaining collaborative and responsive within a remote team.
- Comfortable learning and using multiple software platforms, estimating tools, and internal systems.
- Familiarity with PlanSwift, Bluebeam, Procore, or comparable estimating and construction software is an advantage.
- Experience with wastewater treatment projects, skids, heavy structural projects, complex custom fabrication, or U.S.-based construction and fabrication projects is highly valued.
- A civil engineering degree or equivalent technical or trade experience is a plus.
- Experience working with distributed or remote teams is beneficial.
- Demonstrated experience working with AI-powered estimating or quoting tools is advantageous.
- Ability to commit to a full-time, 40-hour-per-week schedule and a month-to-month employment structure.
- Availability for flexible working hours, with a preference for some overlap with 9:00 AM–5:00 PM ET.
- Compensation of $1,500–$2,500 per month, depending on experience.
- Full-time opportunity with a flexible schedule.
- Remote work arrangement from Brazil.
- Flexible time-zone structure with preferred overlap with U.S. Eastern Time business hours.
- Opportunity to work on structural steel, wastewater treatment, and complex custom fabrication projects.
- Direct collaboration with experienced estimating professionals and exposure to increasingly larger and more complex projects.
- Technology-forward working environment featuring an AI-powered quoting system.
- Opportunity to contribute to improving estimating processes and increasing quoting capacity within a growing operation.
