Hygienist (Full-time) in Laurel, Maryland at SMILE LOFT DENTAL LLC

We are looking for an experienced Dental Hygienist to join our team of compassionate providers with a focus on patient education. Great outcomes for patients are decided in your chair through proficient, high-quality cleanings and communication of appropriate recommendations. Being a team-player who is attuned to the schedule and works to build strong relationships with office team members and patients will ensure a Dental Hygienist’s success at Smile Loft Dental.

Duties & Expectations

• Ensure patients feel as comfortable as possible before their examination
• Sterilize dental instruments in accordance with OSHA guidelines and office procedures
• Conduct initial mouth screenings and check oral health history
• Identify conditions like gingivitis, caries or periodontitis
• Clean and help protect patients’ teeth (e.g. remove plaque or apply fluoride)
• Educate patients of all ages on proper teeth care by demonstrating, for example, good brushing techniques
• Give instructions to patients after operations or other dental procedures
• Take X-rays or dental impressions
• Assist dentists with selecting appropriate treatments for various diseases (including oral cancer)
• Maintain documentation and charts on each patient
• Monitor supplies

A valid MD state license is required for this Dental Hygienist job.
