Description:

Northwest Hardwoods is the leading manufacturer of hardwood lumber in North America. A fully integrated, global supplier of wood products, NWH serves the furniture, cabinet, molding and millwork industries. Within NWH, Supply Chain is responsible for the disciplines of Procurement, Demand Planning, Supply Planning, Inventory Management, Transportation, Warehousing and S&OP. NWH’s Supply Chain organization is looking to fill the role of Import/Export Logistics Specialist. This role falls within the International Transportation group and is responsible for the movement of product to Asia, Africa, Europe and the Middle East.

Requirements:

Import:

  • Work with Buyers and Vendors to arrange shipment details for import purchases
  • Process import documents to submit ISF requests
  • Work with Customs Broker and CBP to resolve any clearance or inspection issues
  • Coordinate with drayage carriers to deliver containers to company owned or 3PL warehouses
  • Resolve receiving issues
  • Update information in ERP system
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

Export:

  • Review new export orders in ERP system
  • Request bookings with ocean carriers and freight forwarders based on customer ETA requirements and export routing guide
  • Arrange for container loading and delivering to ramp or port with drayage carrier in TMS
  • Coordinate with material availability, shipping schedule and internal departments to ensure orders ship on time and comply with all export requirements
  • Maintain shipment details in Excel spreadsheet
  • Track vessel bookings and drayage loads within TMS (Transportation Management System)
  • Research and resolve operational issues in a timely manner
  • Support commercial organization with relevant information such as ocean and drayage rates
  • Build positive relationships and communicate effectively with vendors and key internal stakeholders
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • HS Diploma
  • Minimum of 2 years of Import/Export experience required.
  • Bachelors degree in Logistics, Business Administration, or Supply Chain with one year relevant experience preferred.
  • Proficient knowledge with ERP and TMS - highly desired
  • International logistics experience – desired
  • Good Excel skills - desired

  • Strong technical literacy in full MS Suite, especially Excel, Outlook.
  • Comfort with phones and ability to learn job-relevant software
