Product Engineer


General Summary

Daily Instruments is seeking a Product Engineer to join our rapidly growing design and production team. The Product Engineer will be responsible for technical knowledge of the various products sold by the SES Dept.

The Product Engineer will coordinate onsite work with the engineering team, designers, procurement, and special project team personnel, as well as working alongside production management staff to design the best fit product for the client’s specific application. The successful Product Engineer will ensure that projects are completed safely and accurately, and in a timely manner to meet customer and shipping goals.

Essential Job Functions:

Answer customer inquiries and technical questions, responsible for all inquiries that require product design engineering.

Assist quoting department in technical evaluation of incoming RFQ and work with sales/customer on product offering.

Perform applicable thermowell calculations to validate thermowell designs to relevant ASME codes.

Work with drafting to produce order specific engineering and product drawings. Responsible for final drawing approval.

Review customer supplied drawings, specifications, and special requirements to ensure technical compliance.

Familiar with manufacturing processes for all dept. products. Ensure custom products can be manufactured reliably

Occasionally assist production department by creating BOM, job routings, and machining instructions.

Hands-on involvement working with production and assembly staff to troubleshoot manufacturing issues as needed.

Occasionally oversee or assist Field Service Dept. with installation projects in the field.

Other duties as assigned to facilitate company, production, and department goals.


Job Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in engineering, manufacturing or other industrial related field.
  • 2-4 years’ experience in engineering or manufacturing, field work, or sales experience is preferred.
  • Experience in product design or manufacturing/production is preferred.
  • Project development and leadership skills are essential
  • Experience with typical engineering software, such as ACAD, Excel, and ERP systems.
  • Ability to work with various departments to facilitate the orderly execution of a proposed project plan
  • Professional work experience reviewing and analyzing prototypes and product modifications
  • Excellent technical communication skills, verbal and written
  • Understanding of ASME codes and NDT processes
  • Understanding of GD&T and welding symbols
  • Self-driven initiative to respond to fluid work environment and rapidly changing priorities
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with machine shop, working in a manufacturing/fabrication environment
  • Production Planning or Scheduling experience preferred
  • Understanding of purchasing/requisition in a manufacturing environment
  • Hands-on production, welding, or machine shop experience is beneficial
  • Enthusiastic team player, Creative thinker, focus on bottom-line results while managing for Total Quality Assurance Compliance


Other:

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer other than current employer
  • Must be fluent in English, any other language skills are beneficial
  • This is primarily a sedentary position, but does require the physical ability to infrequently work in a busy shop environment including sitting, standing, lifting/moving up to 20 pounds.
  • Climate-controlled production facility all year round
