Job Description

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or a related field, and five (5) years of experience in academic recruitment, physician recruitment, healthcare recruitment, faculty affairs, or a related area with progressive responsibilities.

Job Summary:

The Senior Faculty Recruiter manages the recruitment and sourcing of faculty candidates across the Academic Enterprise. This position partners with academic department chairs, faculty search committees, Human Resources, and institutional leadership to attract and recruit highly qualified faculty members. The Senior Recruiter develops recruitment strategies, manages candidate pipelines, facilitates searches, and ensures an efficient, equitable, and positive candidate experience throughout the recruitment process. This role serves as a subject matter expert in faculty recruitment and academic medicine hiring practices.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in business, healthcare administration, human resources, or related field.
  • Seven (7) years of experience in academic medicine or healthcare recruitment.
  • Experience supporting faculty recruitment within an academic medical center.


Job Duties:

Recruitment Strategy and Talent Acquisition

  • Develop and implement recruitment strategies to identify and attract high-quality faculty candidates.
  • Conduct proactive sourcing and outreach to active and passive candidates through professional networks, academic organizations, conferences, and recruitment platforms.
  • Build and maintain talent pipelines for current and future faculty recruitment needs.
  • Collaborate with department leadership to develop recruitment plans based on workforce and strategic needs.
  • Research market trends and provide recommendations regarding recruitment practices and candidate availability.

    Recruitment Process Management
  • Manage the full-cycle faculty recruitment process from position posting through onboarding.
  • Partner with department chairs, administrators, and search committees to develop position descriptions and search strategies.
  • Coordinate candidate screenings, interviews, reference checks, site visits, and recruitment activities.
  • Monitor recruitment activities to ensure compliance with institutional policies, equal opportunity requirements, and applicable federal and state regulations.
  • Maintain recruitment documentation, candidate records, and search files.
  • Track recruitment metrics and provide reports regarding candidate pipelines, recruitment outcomes, and time-to-fill performance.
  • Assist with faculty offer development and recruitment package coordination in collaboration with institutional leadership and Human Resources.

    Stakeholder and Candidate Engagement
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for faculty candidates throughout the recruitment process.
  • Foster positive relationships with department leaders, search committees, faculty administrators, and external partners.
  • Ensure an exceptional candidate experience through timely communication, coordination, and follow-through.
  • Support faculty onboarding and transition activities to facilitate successful integration into the institution.
  • Represent UTMB at recruitment events, professional conferences, career fairs, and networking opportunities.

    Process Improvement and Operational Support
  • Identify opportunities to improve recruitment processes, candidate engagement, and operational efficiency.
  • Contribute to the development of recruitment best practices, standard operating procedures, and training materials.
  • Assist with managing relationships with recruitment vendors and search firms, as appropriate.
  • Participate in special projects and workforce initiatives supporting faculty recruitment and retention efforts.
  • Adheres to internal controls and reporting structure.
  • Performs related duties as required.

    Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
  • Knowledge of academic medicine, faculty appointment processes, and healthcare recruitment practices.
  • Strong understanding of recruitment methodologies, sourcing techniques, and talent pipeline development.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to effectively engage with senior leaders, faculty candidates, and search committees.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple concurrent searches.
  • Knowledge of employment laws, recruitment compliance requirements, and equal opportunity practices.
  • Proficiency with applicant tracking systems, recruitment technologies, and workforce analytics tools.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.


Working Environment:

Standard office equipment and space.
May require local and regional travel for recruitment activities and professional conferences.

Salary Range:

Commensurate with experience.
